I had that problem on my 2011. Try disconnecting the drive shaft at the rear and then rotate the rear yoke 180 degrees. When you put the shaft back in the yoke, make sure to center the u-joints in the yoke. There is a little space where the u-joints bolt into the yoke that allows some side to side movement. Center that. That eliminated about 90% of my vibration. My vibration was really noticeable when I would look over at the passenger seat and see it vibrating at around 70 mph. Since you have just replaced the u-joints, you may not have put it back in the rear yoke without the same orientation. Believe me, it can make quite a difference in the vibration problem. The other 10% I got out with a Balance Master Drive Shaft balancing ring. The fluid filled (mercury) rubber ring slides over the rear drive shaft and then is held in place by a two piece steel clamp.

I will have to look into the balancing ring. I have never heard of that. I am going to check everything out tomorrow so I will post what I find out.

They work. Don't get them for the front drive shaft. They won't slide over the u-joint,s on our trucks. The rubber ring is too small. When I tried it, I ripped the ring and it was useless. The rear work fine. I also run the Balance Masters on my wheels. When I traded my 2011 4wd, I had 105,000 on the original tires and never had them balanced. As a matter of fact, they recommend that all weights be removed on installation of the dynamic balances.

Hopefully, the yoke rotation will help you. I've done it on two trucks with drive line vibrations and it helped with the problem. A third truck I tried it on didn't help. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Good afternoon TDR team, sorry for re posting if this is already clearly answered somewhere...

I have a 2006 3500 DRW auto mega cab 4x4 with a bad rear drive line.
I would like to replace it with a one piece. I have looked and looked but I am still not sure of the replacement part #s.
I hoping to get a mopar one piece if there is such thing.

what I have come up is a 52123220AB but some forms say this is for a manual and other say it is for a auto but only 2007s?

again sorry for jumping on this thread but it looks to be the best starting point.
thoughts?

52123161AB is the correct number. Pretty sure it is now an AC suffix.

52123220AB is the number for the 68RFE. It may work, it may not.

I was unable to find the thread on this forum but there is one where a member shimmed his carrier bearing to improve alignment and reduce vibration and he has pictures to show how he did it and how much he shimmed. Might be worth a look if you can find it.

I had the same issue on my 06 3500 DRW right at 62-64 mph. When I pushed above that it stopped. The problem started when the shop changed the u-joints at 75k, turns out they some how bent the rear shaft slightly (I suspect I was mishandled). I had the shafts checked and aligned, new joints and it stopped.

Does it just happen when you lug the engine a little bit in OD? Mine does that while towing in OD under power.....and I think it might be deflection of the flywheel? it's kind of shudder...sound familiar?

No, Its only when I first take off from a stop. I just got off the phone with a Dodge dealer. The parts manager there has verified a Mopar part numbered once piece drive line for my truck. (52123161AB)

HERES THE CATCH...Mopar puts notes into their parts system. On the notes page it states DO NOT install on a truck that came with a two piece drive line. SO are they saying this as just a buyer be aware? OR have any of you gents heard of any issues?

That warning refers to the fact that the carrier bearing support frame WILL interfere with the installation of a one piece driveshaft on trucks with a two piece DS.

Of course, the obvious solution, that the warning does NOT mention, is to simply REMOVE the ENTIRE support assembly from the frame BEFORE installing the DS. It is a simple 4 bolt removal, and then the one piece DS slips right in.

My dealer ordered and installed one for me on my 2005 after I clarified the meaning of the warning, but I had a very good working relationship with the service and parts manager at that dealership.

You will LOVE the one piece DS, and it will more then likely solve your driveline vibration when starting off.

If you have a vibration while taking off say while towing they call this torque shudder. You can put a camera on the 2 piece drive shaft and watch it jump up and down 1-2" while doing this. One solution that stops this dead is a poly center bearing instead of the soft rubber. Link below and note they also have info on setting up the angles of the drive line. I don't know if they make one for the Dodge pickups yet. It cures the issue on 6.5's and Duramax pickups.

Well guys... after spending three days at my mechanics shop and letting him check out my truck from head to toe, he called me yesterday and said nothing was wrong with it. He said the only thing he could think of was that the shudder/vibration was coming from the tires. I took his advice, and after thinking long and hard about it, I bought two new tires for the rear end. My truck drives like its brand new. Just thought yall might like to know. To all of you on this thread who were saying it was the tires, my hats off to you. Now I know. Thanks to all for your input. I really hopes this helps someone else out. This has been very frustrating, but now I love my truck again. :-laf
