OK I am sure I am missing it
BUT does anyone make a drop in replacement upgrade for the driving lights
or a better bulb
I am NOT looking to do double led or the likes
I want to keep it as factory as possible
just want brighter driving lights if possible
I have used PIAA lights in the past that fit almost exactly like the OEM lights did, and were a HUGE upgrade over OEM lights there

SO< any recommendations
a 2016-2500

NOT sure what number/type bulb that your 2016 uses, but the Phillips XtremePower and XtemeVision line of halogen bulbs are a DEFINITE excellent upgrade to regular halogen bulbs or even other "upwatted" bulbs like the PIAA or SiverStar bulbs.

They are available from Amazon or ,my favorite bulb supplier candlepower.com

I learned about them from here--

If your 2016 is like my 2015 and has projector lights, there is no easy bulb exchange to make them better. I put PIAA 9005 Extreme White Plus in both my fog lights and brights. I run the fogs with my driving lights and it's a VAST improvement. I haven't driven at night with the 9005's as brights yet as I only just did those yesterday.

thanks, I'm NOT a Laramie, so don't know if I have the same lights as you
I am just a SLT/Big horn set up
and not sure what bulbs I have now
in the past I actually replaced OEM driving lights with a set of PIAA lights that fit into the same spot just like OEM's did
and again were night and day better, and din't get folks flashing HI beams at me either!
a win win I thought!

DIDN"T Know if anyone made a whole replacement light that looked like the OEM< just brighter, and a plug and play like deal or not

will look into the bulbs s weather allow's
snowing here pretty good now LOL

Do your front end lights look like this?

Are you confusing your fog lights for driving lights? While I'm sure it is possible, I am not aware that these trucks came with a driving light option, just fog lights. The fog light beam pattern will not produce the same type of light dispersion as a driving light, regardless of what bulb you put it.

Or,....are you calling your headlights, driving lights?

I am calling the lights in the bumper driving lights, head lights are up on sides of grill and contain head light and parking lights
I do NOT consider any lights on my truck to be FOG lights.
they would be a more specialized light designed for driving in FOG; something OEM bumper lights don't do, and nor do OEM parking lights
norlights nor headlights
so looking for a upgrade in the bumper lights

Uhhmm, why do you not consider them fog lights, because, unless there is an option I am not aware of (entirely possible), that's what Ram designed, installed and considers them.

Well on my build sheet there NOT called fog lights, but are called driving light?
Second a true fog light is normally NOT a white light, due to amber/yellow works better in fog,
thus making the bumper lights NOT FOG lights,
its the same reason may folks think the yellow lights near head lights are running lights, and there not, there called parking lights, and driving with JUST them on is actually against the laws, as there for parking?
I doubt anyone will ever get a ticket for doing so, but doesn't change the fact if it all!

If your build sheet says driving lights, then I can't argue that, however, I can argue that fog lights have to be yellow or amber. They do not. They are available clear as well. Search and you will see they are available both ways. Additionally, my truck came with clear fog lights (so did my car). You can go to Ram's site and see if you click on the Big Horn Package, it lists the upgrades above the lower levels, and it says right there, "Fog Lights".

Both colors have their advantages, but the most important thing in a fog light is the beam patter, not the color. The beam is narrow vertically, and wide. Amber/yellow reflects slightly less, but clear shines farther.

This is absolutely correct. Furthermore, driving lights and fog lights have very DIFFERENT patterns

Fog beam patterns are as described above--low and wide in order to see the edge of the road with minimal reflection back at the driver.

Driving lights patterns are aimed higher and less out to the sides in order to throw the beam further down the road.

For excellent information on the differences in beam patterns and misconceptions of ideal lighting, read ALOT at

That.....plus, if you look at the icon on the switch and the indicator light on the dash when the lights are on, the icon is a headlight with lines pointing down.....as in fog light.:)

I have not done it but I have read that a 9005 bulb can replace the stock 9145/H10 in the lights located in the bumper (whatever you want to call them).

yes I think were getting to wordy on names
typically I said FOG lamps are yellow in color, NOT 100%
the color of the light and the TYPE of beam it makes can help better with the yellow color to it in FOG
same at times in snow
look at color of skier's goggles?

ANY Ways, I am not trying to debate the name of the lights, call them what ever makes you happy
I was just asking if there is a better set up for the LIGHTS in the BUMPER on these trucks or not!

be it a better bulb or a whole drop in light .

I understand, but in this case the "word" is pretty important. If indeed you were mistaking fog lights as driving lights, it's important to know that the beam pattern is what would be responsible for your dissatisfaction with them and that a different bulb would still leave you unsatisfied.

Plus you also said:

they would be a more specialized light designed for driving in FOG; something OEM bumper lights don't do,

and

Second a true fog light is normally NOT a white light, due to amber/yellow works better in fog,

When indeed, they actually ARE fog lights....except yours, apparently.

People sometimes need clarification in order to answer questions correctly, if this is too bothersome for you to endure, perhaps online forums are not for you?

or maybe you take things too literal??
I stared with a simple asking if there are a better light options for MY 2016 truck

SO with that general question
ONE could have expected folks to add input on options of BETTER IN THERE EYE"S on option I could review!
the fact that I later said I was LOOKING for DRIVING LIGHTS< took the FOG lights out of the options, as I was again looking for driving lights,. NOT fog lights
SO< if your so quick to KNOW it all on lights
then you can MAYBE assume I want DRIVING LIGHTS< and offer info ON THEM and NOT fog lights!

I want a DRIVING LIGHT better than the lights in my bumper for MY bumper!

I have thick shin and DON"T get offended easy
and so far you are NOT offending me
your just being a YOU I gather!

I take all things on a forum with a grain of salt, and ONLY try to offer help, or ask questions to which I AM looking for help

I have no desire to haggle over simple things

SO< IF you can add insight on MY tread please do
if you feel the need to act like you are a forum enforcer of things, and perfect in how you word everything in your life, please STOP replying here, as your just wasting YOUR time
and others that want to follow your lead in other treads!

SO??

and NOT adding anything worth reading to the treads question!

The fact that you cannot see the reasoning for wanting to make sure what kind of lights we are talking about (you know, the type of reflector and lense?), gives me pause. It appears making sure we're on the same page before giving advice is far too complex of a concept for you.... apparently.

oh and yes, I am being a "me".

well since I am NOT am expert on lights and have NOT looked that close at my OEM lights
MY answer is a correct answer
I do NOT know exactly what one's I have
not sure HOW my answer offends you
as MAYBE if you offered advice on HOW to tell what lights I have , rather than being a snob about what YOU KNOW about light!

and NOT sure every question that is asked on a forum starts with the OP knowing exact;y what LIGHTS they have when they ask about upgrades
as ANY LIGHT TYPE can have an upgrade option??

SO again your just being YOU, I get it??

some folks offer help some just want to seem like a jerk know it all I guess!

MY lights do NOT look like the one's on a Laramie
so they are different than the one's added in the picture of his in this tread!

mrbb, my first post was in fact intended to help you out, but I need to tell you that I ALSO mistook your reference to "driving lights" as your trucks headlights.

While the Phillips Xtreme Power bulbs will also work as a plug n play upgrade in EITHER the foglight or headlight position, not understanding the difference of your preference actually INHIBITS the ability of other members to help YOU out in YOUR request for advice in YOUR thread in that is located in OUR forum.

Just my .02 …take it for what its worth, and meantime check out those Phillips XtremePower bulbs in BOTH your headlights AND your fog lights (er, driving lights) and I promise you won't be disappointed with the money you spend on them.

My additional advice to you, unwanted as it may be, is DON'T be an as* about people having difficulty understanding what you need based on the differences in what YOUR words refer to and the GENERALLY ACCEPTED meaning of the same words.

I thank you for your suggestion and I can understand how my wording maybe cause a confusion, in MY area ALL fog lights are YELLOW and purpose for fog
once it was brought up asked about MY name calling, I THEN added where i WAS LOOKING FOR LIGHT UPGRADES
which I figured would have cleared up any issue's on mistaken names being used
I do NOT try to be an *****
but at same time I don't appreciate being talked to as one
when I tied to correct any confusion on my wording
and stated so,
I asked for suggestions and again, I am NOT new to forums(maybe this one)
and I tend to have a great respect and appreciation for members and same towards me
I will ALWAYS stand up for myself, and I am NOT going to sit by when others here or any where want to talk like there know it all's and NOT offering help, but just wanting to hear themselves maybe on a forum!!

which happened above by a MEMBER HERE!
maybe they need more patience in offering help, or if its too much for them to do, just NOT reply then!!

so again I thank all that offered to try to help and suggestions
