Hey cj,
Finished my first (small) batch today - 2. 5Gal.
Used the pump from our old above-ground pool (1. 5" ID hoses!), with a home water filter from the local plumbing shop ($14 & $2. 44 for filter cartridges). Picked up a 50micron, 30micron, and 5micron filters for it. Mixed things in Rubbermaid 20gal garbage can (one to settle, one for mixing).
I added the 10% #1 and a little #2 to make filtering easier (it did). Once the pump was primed, I let it run around in circles for a while to make sure it was well filtered. That done, I mixed in the rest of the ingredients, filtered through a 5micron bag, and added to the tank.
A short driveabout was uneventful. I was watching the fuel pressure just in case I'd missed something in the filtering... no signs of distress thus far. Taking the trailer out on Thursday to head over the mountains for a Father's day outing - that ought to be interesting.
After fussing with this first setup (hoses loose into/out of the can) - I plan to plumb them in top and bottom with the pump below the can to aid priming, and to minimize the chance of a mess from hoses getting loose. I think I can get it plumbed well enough to make it routine. .
The place I get my AM coffee empties out their fryer every Sunday, and I pick it up every Monday on the way to work. They leave it in the original 5-gal tote (plastic, with handle & cardboard box outer jacket). Few more places like that and the $-per-gallon will definately drop. Oo. Good soy stock.
I'm pre-processing the oil by heating to cook off the water, mixing in calcium chloride (salt, basically) to draw off any remaining water in the oil, mixing in baking soda to neutralize acids and help clear our sediment, then dump it into the 20gal container with the calcium chloride and baking soda in the bottom to finish -- settle for a week or so, then filter as above. I picked up on the idea for soda & salt in a WVO forum...
I went and purchased a bottle of the DSE to see how difficult it would be to brew my own - I think it is essentially Xylene and Coleman fuel. I know how well Xylene dissolves waxes; I've used it for years to clean up candle messes and such. Suppose that's why it is used here, keeping things in solution as temps drop. I did poke around on the USPTO website, as I'd read they may have patented the formula. Someone had something similar (if it wasn't them), that was described as an additive to improve marginal feedstock in places around the world where fuel quality was low. Somewhere in there that particular patent listed the Xylene as around 50%. I think a lot of the other things listed are provided in the Power Service.
Anyhow, something new for Daddy to play with.
Stay tuned.

Hello all
Making more fuel today truck is running great.
The new pump for pumping out drums of oil is working better then I hoped for
first place had 30 gallons oil oil after hooking up hoses took 5 min to pump 25 gallons into 100 gallon tank in truck went to 2nd place and pumped 55 gallons out of their bin this took a little longer the battery was running low on power hooked to truck battery and finnished pumping this took 20 mins the total set up cost 1,150 dollars( pump cost the most) after running it I think it will pay for it self in little or no time to get 80 gallons before the pump it would take about 2 hrs of hand pumping.
The price includes tank, hose, camlock hose ends, pipe fittings, valves ,pump and shipping the hose is made for vegoil so it will last a long time. will try to post some pic of it the next time I use it.
also found another small oil supply (soy) its only 15 gallons a month.
