schur fuel

Hello Tom

Is it the right oil, those Hippies might be smoking a little to much weed. :-laf:-laf:-laf

The post you are thinking of is this one

https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/alternative-fuels/164330-schur-ecofuel.html

I have talked to mark a few times and I dont think he is using this blend any more

as far as I know it works just fine but the cost of the IPA is hard on the bank account.

If you are out there Mark drop me an email about this

I think he is blending E 85 ??????

yea there's alot of renderers/recyclers here. It is showing up on the market though. I paid $1. 75/gal for wvo filtered to 10 micron and dewatered. The "hippies" I mentioned really have a pretty slick grassroots type opereration, I hope it works for them. There's also a guy selling "raw" wvo for $. 50/gal. , but he's usually out.

Baker Ind

Hello to all

I have a oil friend that works in Boiler Repair, I saw him Saturday and we got to talking about Used Veg Oil and Boilers. He is in the process of geting Baker Ind (used veg oil processers) Boilers running on the veg oil they sell this is new to him but he thinks it would be no different than what we do with heat.

He also told me that they are selling the used oil as pig food and that the cost was 18 cents per pound around 1. 34 per gallon ABOUT 1 year ago today it's selling at . 30 cents per pound 2. 24 per gallon. Is this going to be cheaper than NG for fuel?

The expeller for making oil from seed stock is running we did start to get some oil. we have some issues to work out but it is going to work will.

The centrafuge project is getting some work done on it and I need it working. have about 300 gallons of oil that is in totes that needs to be cleaned.

I would like to start selling new and used clean, dewatered, filtered vegetable oil to people wanting to make biodiesel/blend fuel/ or just burn it fuel this will take some time to get all set up and running.

The trucks are running just fine and there is nothing to report at this time on them

Thanks for reading.

It's been damb cold here and I'm afraid trying to pump the oil will burn up my pump, so I'm thinking about adapting a 1500w/120v water heater element to a metl drum (about $20 in parts from home depot). I've searched for the real drum heaters and they're pretty expensive. Thought about industrial diesel engine heaters also, but I think the water heater is the most cost efficient ;) Any other thoughts?

news and other stuff

Hello to All

I have been working on the oilseed expeller and have not spent time on the TDR site posting about the truck's and any problems we have had in the last few weeks.

The good new is that we have been running the fuel and the temps are running in the low teen's at night and in to the low 30's in the day time. no problems with any of the trucks at this temp. oil pick up is running good at this time and we have around 500 gallons of oil ready to be filtered and 200 gallons filtered and dewatered ready to make fuel

the 04 is running 100% blend fuel = 87% veg oil.

the 01 is running 100% blend fuel = 87% veg oil.

the 05 is running 50 to 75 % blend fuel 43 to 67 % veg oil.

Other News is that I have been asked to have a news story on the type of fuel I have been using, will find out more on this next tuesday. I will post what happens on this and a link to the story on this thread.

The City of Billings Montana has started running Biodiesel Blend in 6 of the diesels the city own's,This is only a test to see if the biodiesel works for them.

Getting the city to try some thing like this is like trying to get an 4 year old to eat Greenbeans. After about 4 hrs of Public Meetings and 30 hrs of closed meetings they gave in and said ok we will do it.

The amount of bio is very small they ok running b2,yep all this for 2. 56 oz per gallon of diesel. what gets me about this is they are paying 22 cents more per gallon because of the Winterblend ?????? my tax dollar's at work!!!!

Hello to All

I did the story FOR KTVQ-2 Billings today at 2 pm and it will be on tonight if you would like to see it it will be on their Web Site some time on Thursday I will link to the story after I see its there.

They wanted to do a story on running vegetable oil in a engine not just talking about doing it. :)

This is the first time I have been on tv so its kinda scary for me. I thought it would be at least three or four days but I was wrong.

lister and expeller

hello to all

I have been working on a small project it's a lister engine running either biodiesel/ wvo / or a blend of 50/50 diesel/biodiesel. it depends on the weather and what we have.

the first two pictures are of the the lister and the expeller it will be used for crushing oil seed and the seed cake will be feed to cattle on the owners ranch. the oil will be sold or made into biodiesel/used for making blend fuel something on this order. these two pictures are from September of this year the rest are from December.

I hope you all enjoy the pictures. There are eight in all . on Jan 10 we will be showing this setup to a biodiesel workshop group in Bllings Montana there will be tours of the ranch and we will be crushing seeds at this time.

Thanks for reading.

update

Hello to All

The trucks are running just fine we did have a cold snap and all three trucks did just fine. Temps at night got down to the mid teens its time for a oil change in the 04 and the 05 today the 04 will be getting that done.

The 05 is only running 50 % blend fuel at this time, thinking that I might be better off putting a bypass oil filter on this truck and running full syn oil. but just not sure.

The 10 of Jan we will be running the lister and expeller for the biodiesel workshop for the state of montana. They want to have farmers grow oil seed and then sell the product to biodiesel refinerys the only problem is, will we (The state of Montana) does not have a biodiesel refinery yet. I think I see a problem with this.

trucks

Hello to All

Just an update on the trucks

2001 dodge is running the blend at 100 % no cold am problems

2005 dodge is running the blend at 50 % no problems

2004 dodge is running blend at 100% no problems

2004 got an oil change last week and I got the test back.

The wear rates are normal nothing to do

what caught me eye was the oil condition

the soot parts in the oil has been running for the last two times 4 and 5 the New scale is a 30 number is 100% all the oil can hold

the soot in the test I just got back is 0 (zero) all the rest of the number"s have stayed the same

just thought some of you out there would like here this news

thanks for reading

How are the trucks running, I am getting ready to make the conversion to DSE, for my 2001, any recommendations regarding winter and summer mixing and usage?

PS great job of reporting you sold me on the DSE, I was ready to build a biodiesel generator, after reading your exploits I changed my mind.

hello to all

Hi CJ, this time of year I'm running about 30-40% DSE blend. On the trucks you're running 100% I am curious how many gallons of RUG per tank it works out to (or what percentage of it is gas)?

My '98 seemed sluggish & lethargic for the first couple minutes when I was adding about 2. 5 gallons (ie I put about 12 gallons DSE mix in, go to the station, add 2. 5 gal RUG then finish fillup with diesel). Now with the colder weather I upped the RUG to 4 gallons and it helped a lot. . . starts up & runs much better, very little smoke.

I can't imagine running 100% this time of year even if I plug in all night. Temps have been around 10F in the AM and high 20s in the afternoon lately. . . BRRRR~

fuel

Hello Vaughn

The fuel has 6 gallons of gasoline in with 40 gallons of vegoil (15% winter 10% summer)

it also has 32 oz of power service and 12 oz of mock dse additive a new additive to help with the starting in the am is fppf 8+cetane additive this is added at 16 oz per batch. and it work's great.

What the FPPF is is 2-Ethyl-Hexyl-Nitrate at 45 to 55 % I have found this at 100% and will be adding this info out to people as soon as we get a price from the supplier.

This is what the Refinerys use to boost the Cetane in the fuel they sell us.

YES there is no kero in the mix, have been running without it for 6 months ITS OVER 4. 50 A GALLON HERE now all seems to be fine just trying new blends and it does make the fuel cheaper.

So Vaughn, what is your winter mix ratio before adding the diesel at the pump? Do you add RUG while blending or only at the pump? Thanks, Tom.
