Have gone to Phx Az &back to Billings MT Billings To Fresno CA Okland CA Fresno CA & back to Billings MT at right around 16mpg pulling a enclosed 24' cartraller 55 mph in CA 70-80 the rest of the trips the 55mph droped my milag down in CA pulling a traler 55 is the limit Idont like geting pulled over. The next trip i went east to Nashvill TN to Denver CO to Billings Mt all with car in traler mph 70+ mpg 18 i like flat land. Next went to Winslo AZ& back to Billings Mt most of all of trips all started with veg diesel from CJ HALL WITH NO FUEL PROBLEMS Ichanged back and forth from veg diesel to diesel my truck runs very well very strong on the veg diesel and a lot quieter on veg diesel no black smoke. The only problem with truck happened just south of Baggs WY I hit a large deer took out rad/ac condenser/steering center link/tie rod /head light /grill /bumper&covers Took 2 days to get rad then left for Billings Mt truck runs supper Looks Like **** got all body parts In still NEED a center link for a 2001 /2500/two wheel drive Litha DODGE told me dodge does not have any left. fuel tank

hello to all

The fuel tank is all welded and it looks great.

The first person I would like to thank is My boss and friend, Steve Pinnow owner of Midland West Mfg. With out him this last centrifuge the stacked one and all the others I have built one and this fuel tank would only be dreams in my head. Thank you Steve

The next person is Josh Prindle owner of Prindle Manufacturing and Performance Josh is the one that welded the tank for me he makes custom bumpers for jeeps and pickup trucks Ford Dodge and GM and just about any thing you need. custom work is what he likes

Jumpin' Buggies! You Just Found Prindle Manufacturing & Performance!

There are also others that help me all the time

Tim Keith and John aka (Chewy) and Rob thanks for all your help.

did I just say that out loud:-laf:-laf:-laf

any way here are a few pictures of the new tank its 30"30"60"

I have to say that the fabrication that you and your group of friends have created is absolutely the best there is. I have done my share of fab. & welding, but the equipment you have shown here is just the finest.

Congratulations on your high quality work and attention to details.

The welding on the aluminum tank blows me away.

American craftsmanship lives!!!!

fuel tank and centrifuge

Hello to all

Ken yes I will post when its installed just starting to think about the best way to do it and make it look good also.

Jim thank you The new centrifuge idea came to me while I was using my old two unit,12 hrs of work to get 275 gallons. I needed more oil faster turn around time so I ran the idea past Steve talked about it off and on for 8 months sold the old one started building its not done yet but its close and I can get clean oil out of it, the fuel tank is the first of two I need this one will be the biggest the next one will be around 125 to 150 gallons for my 2001 truck.

Last Sunday the temp outside was 30 degrees and the oil was hard to get flowing but with three bowls and a little heat I got 225 gallons of oil done in about 4. 5 hrs this will net me around 250 gallons of fuel to burn the cost will be a little higher I burned about 12 gallons of red dye fuel for heat in the shop to get this oil but now I got fuel for my trucks.

I talked to Josh today about when he tested the fuel tank it held 4. 5 psi for two hrs with zero leaks the first time out. not bad over 30 feet of welding on that tank.

fuel tank

hello to all

first pictures of the new tank sitting in the truck

it fits great and yes you can see over the top of it from the drivers seat

the hold down are in my head i just need to put it on paper and then have them cut out

here are a few pictures of the tank in the bed

nice clean truck not!

So, how much does it hold ... around 160 gallons ? Any concerns about DOT looking at it ?

tank

hello to all

its 30x30x60 on the out side

inside its has two baffles so we think is close to 29x30x59 =51330 ci

devided by 231 and you will get 222. 20 gallons

I am sure DOT will give me a hard time but really A semi truck has over 300 gallons some times closer to 400 of diesel this is for vegetable oil .

I Have seen bigger tanks on trucks for custom harvisting come thru montana and not anything was done about them I have had totes full of oil and have never been stoped. if i get stoped they will want to dip it for red dye thats their deal one dip and then what the look on there face will be worth the time it takes .

one another note

The DEQ tolld a friend of mine that has 8000 gallons of vegetable oil in an underground tank that if the SBA won't loan them the money for buying the building because of the underground tank then just pump it out on the ground and dig up the tank the vegetable oil is a non issue with them.

time will tell but i am sure it will be ok

oh man Cj... your set up is the most amazing filtering rig i have ever seen,,,and the aluminum tank is a work of art,,i produce biodiesel at home,,,i have one source of perfectly clear oil,,which gives me about 4500 litres a year,,but if i had a way of filtering not so good oil i could be less choosy,,,is there anyway you could explain to me what your system does or how it works,,,you're abviously some kind of fabricator,,,great job.

centrifuge

hello hooter69

what you are looking at is 8 housings each housing has a bowl in it that is mounted to a shaft and that one motor spins the motor spins at 1750 rpms that has a 6 inch pully the shafts have 3 inch pullys on them this makes the shafts turn at 3450 rpms. (this can be changed buy running the motor faster or slower but that a different story)

each housing has an dirty oil line that comes from one of the heaters the red towers on each side of the housings the oil from the heaters comes from the gear pump mounted on the deck of the platform its connected to a 1000 litre tote.

what happens is the the gear pump is turned on and the oil is pumped in to the heaters the heaters heat the oil to 140 to 180 degrees and then needle valves on the heater and opened letting only a small amount of oil to the spinning bowls the spining bowls slowley fill up this is where the oil gets clean.

the longer the oil stays in the bowl the cleaner it will be when the hot oil spins anything heaver then oil, crud, carbon, burnt food pieces water, flower you name it gets stuck in the bowl, the bowl is 7 inches id and has an opening about 6 inches id on the top its 2 inches tall so it will hold a fair amount of junk before you need to clean it.

after it fills the bowl it spills over the top throwing the clean oil to the outer part of the housing it is collected on it flows to the opening thats the blue hoses that got to the middle header then off to the tote below thru the red hose. if you send the oil thru to fast it will not clean it I will run unit at 1/2 gpm total out put is 4 gallons per min. This amount of oil is a little faster than it should be done but it works fine form me.

this is the short story on how it works

i hope this helps

mileage on trucks

hello to all

Vaughn the two trucks I have the 2004 has 118000 miles on it started running the wvo at 36000 so thats 82000 miles.

the 2001 I got it with 152000 miles on it and it has 180000 so thats 28000 miles I also had a 2005 with around 12000 miles on wvo

the problems i have had with these trucks are about the same as other trucks stock lift pumps that go out and water pumps 4 th one on the 2004 and leaking and the 2nd on the 2001 one injector one the 2004 replaced all 6 thanks to dodge in billings and the turbo on the 2001 went south in early march of this year. Not sure of the history of this truck i would bet this was from lack of oil changes that took the turbo out.

no problems with the injector pumps on either trucks

with diesel at 4. 069 it going to be a good year for this type of fuel.

all of the issues with waste oil is in the filtering of the oil after switching to the centrifuge the oil filters are lasting for a year or longer.

update

hello to all

the trucks are running fine and the centrifuge is working great I will be changing the dirty oil feed pump there is one running the two heaters it needs to have either a bigger pump or two pumps one for each heater.

cost wise I will be getting one more small pump so I will have two pumps and two heaters

The unit works great when the dirty oil is above 50 degrees once I get the the pump I should be able to get 275 gallon tote of oil cleaned in about 1 hr 15 min.

Will be posting pictures of the new fuel tank soon

thanks for reading

trucks and new fass pump mount

Hello to all

First off sorry about the time span between postings I have been making all kinds of fuel and with work its just hard to sit down and post.

The trucks and cars are all running great the only issue is with the pluging of filters and on only one truck

the truck is a 2001 dodge running an edge/smarty setup also running an air dog pump/ filter system and using fuel from an inbed tank.

it seems to plug filters at about 1000 miles I have the last two that he changed and will cut them apart on friday the size of the filters is a factor in this problem I think just not sure this is the only truck running this pump that is using veg oil

the new fass pump mount I built last weekend is ready for install this weekend. the unit is going on a 1999 dodge short bed truck the issue here is the lack of room under the box. with the 150/150 fass unit with the normal hookups and then adding two coolent hoses and all that goes with them you run out of room fast.

the owner wanted the unit as high as it could be mounted and also wanted it rubber mounted

the tank is going to be heated and will get a new dip tube also.

here are the three pictures of the mount I will post more later this weekend.

Thanks for reading

You have quite a talent with fabrication. I really enjoyed reading this whole post (it took a couple days!) Sure gets the wheels turning on how to save some $$ with diesel at $3. 95/gal. Thanks for posting what you have done and are doing, it is great.

Fass Pump update

Hello to all

Thank you TLEARL post pictures of your truck after its done it sounds cool

it great to see another person from Montana.

I did the fass pump install after work tonight and just got home 6. 5 hrs to remove box install new tank put heater in tank plumb the fass this was the first time I changed the way the fuel gets back to the tank fass supplys a unit that you install in to the filler neck this work great unless you want to fill the tank with the engine running ( this happens all the time in montana ) what I did was install a -6 bulk head fitting in the tank for the return fuel from the fass unit.

the mount I made worked like a dream the main filter is only down 1/2 from the bottom of the box and the water sep is not showing at all .

installed a bigger dip tube and then put it all back together

I will try to get some pictures and post them this weekend

thanks again for reading
