Competition Diesels in december dyno videos

Competition lets hear some dyno numbers

Hey Sam,

I got an idea, let Diesel Freak drive your truck. We can race for pink slips, i'll bring 2 new sets of injectors so nobody thinks I have special parts you pick the ones you want and I'll take the other ones. The same goes for the Comps. I'll put a stock turbo on my truck. Diesel Freak can show me how to row that stick. My truck is heavier and higher so if anything I have the disadvantage, and we can go the best 3 out of 5 so if Diesel Freak screws up he's got another chance. I can be there whenever you want but before christmas would be nice as Krystal hasn't got a present yet. What could be better than a nice new Dodge, but I would need to change it to an auto. :p How does that sound?:D :D They would even be matching truck. If Diesel Freak wins your wife would have a matching truck.

Kat, yes, I meant Eric. Who else could it be? :D You want to know his times, ask him yourself. He may be my best friend, but I don't speak for him, if he wants it known, he'll say so.

Stefan, as for Dave Mitchell, he has repeatedly told anyone that asked , no drugs. The kind of man he is, his word is good enough for me. I haven't asked him. I don't need to. I like having the free run of his garage to get my truck fixed, work on it myself, or just to hang out with him and his mechanics, and want to keep it that way so I haven't asked to look under the hood of his truck. He'd let me if I asked, but what for? I want to see him win, so if I see anything, you bet I ain't gonna be talking about it to anyone. I want to see him stay in business, so I'll have somewhere to go when my truck needs more help than I can manage on my own. Of course you know, but others in here may not, why should he give away his hard - earned research & development secrets, any more than Lawrence Bolton and Keith Lockliear at DD should? It costs money to develop products. Expenses have to be recovered... . Pretty much everything Gene said earlier about all that, I agree with.

Of course, if he and Eric would answer a few questions on here, they might lose their advantage on the track. Might.

Nothing against you auto guys, I believe an auto will win, it's been proven enough. Just don't want you to so flippantly dismiss us stick guys, as if we were driving Chevvies:D, or something... we can hold our own.

Keith,

I used to badmouth vendors that ticked/ripped me off. That was wrong after a point. Fair warning should be given, I feel, to our members, but running someone through the mud forever is a bad thing.

I decided I would concentrate on promoteing good, honest vendors that don't tell stories. $$$ per performance is a big issue with me also.

Mitchell's and Piers are on the top of the list. Not saying you guys are not honest, I just have not done business with you!

I don't like "stages" and "phases" Sounds too Star trek for me.

And I love to see bench racing! Who would have guessed?

No commission, dern it. I did take a ride in a "lightly" fueled Mitchell truck, that was commission enough!

Stefan,

If Mitchell was running propane and Nos, why would he not tell? He could sell kits by the hundreds.

They don't tell stories.

Check www.diesel-central.com I made a thread about Mitchell rumors a while back.

Hammer,

My headlight is busted, am I DQed??????? Dang yer ornery!

Gene, I think you'll find that bang for the buck, we're one of the best out there. If you're looking for big power, I think we've proved we can make it.

You say Piers is on the top of your respected vendor list. Did you know he sells our stuff as well? He's a Diesel Dynamics authorized installer and gets the cams/VP44 pumps (when available) unlike just about everyone else.

"Stage" is an easy descriptor for the amount of power an injector makes. Call it whatever "stage", "phase", "step", etc. it's just a way to tell them apart power wise.

If you want a commission ride, take a hop over to Vegas and we'll let Lawrence loose with you. :)

Piers sells BD's stuff as well... ... ... .

I may have to come out and visit Joe anyway, I may as well meet all the west coasters.

Con Expo is on my list, and I shore would like to make May Madness. I missed MM by one week in 98, had to come back.

I'll hold the Big L to that ride!!!

Wait. You said he detunes it to 425, what fun is that? Eric Mc Bride runs around at 575 everyday!

Gene

Oh. Stefan. You want the basics? No problem.

Les see here... ... ...

1) Fuel, BIG fuel

2) Air, boost in the triple digits? Maybe.

3) Cam to take HIGH RPM, 8000? Maybe.

4) awesome clutch, what my clutch was based on, except steel friction material.

5) Military drivetrain, no that is wrong,

Dodge parts:

Dana 60, NV 4500, 241 HD transfer, Dana 80 in the rear.

The 60 is original. The transfer will have to be upgraded soon, I would think.

6) Lunker tires

7) small weight bar on left front, due to air under the tire.

Not so highly modified after all, eh?

This is what any hillbilly can see walking by, or tell by the pull. Now there is Mitchellized parts all through the thing, but this is the basics.

Oh yea, Those traction bars of Steves got stuck on this year, they seemed to hold up.

You guys know how the Fordsters insist their trucks are tougher, but we have the better engine? I WOULD love to see a Ford driveline take this abuse.

"NICE TRY"

what a pi$$ing contest we have here!

Guys let it die, it's just like the whole "Synthic vs oil... . " no one will agree that the autos are better except us auto guys:D :p

As for this contest thing, screw those rules, RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG, AN MAKE SURE YOU BRUNG THE WHOLE SHOP!!!:p In NASCAR they can pop the hood during pits, and in NHRA they dismantle the whole thing down to the pistons after each run. Street leagal... . why? Isn't this who can make the most power PERIOD!!!!!

As for Mitchell vs Diesel Dynamics at MM... . It's on my letter to Santa!!:D But I really do not think that they will show, just because they have other things to do then show how big whats in their pants is. I have always heard that he runs nothing but #2, and never has had anything else on there.

No matter how fast you think you are there is ALWAYS somebody faster... . unless your name is Kenny, and you drive a 325 mph beer can!!!:D

Just more #2 for thought,

Andrew

well, with the way Sam's truck is geared a third gear launch would be just right. leave the line at 2000rpm, and feather the clutch tp keep from bogging. Once the clutch is fully enganed, hammer down to 3100 RPM, skip shift to 5th (rpm drops to about 1600) . run 5th to 2900 rpm, and grab sixth.

Ah yes Stefan my young slushbox driver,,Its obvious to me that you only read part of the post and not see what I'm actually talking about,,See I made no reference to returning you truck to factory specs, you did my young lad,,See what I am trying to do is make you run your truck a the factory SHIPPING weight thats all,see if they all are at proper weight ,then we eliminate the whining and sniveling about the same hp trucks, one lighter than another,,Short of the difference in weight between quads and ext cabs or 8 ft or 6 ft beds, all other, his truck has lighter panels or is missing some stuff I have because mines a daily driver crap ends,,WHAT,you say you can not run your truck without slicks or a weight removal exercise that resembles a chinese fire drill like what was witnessed while you were at Muncie and least I forget the slicks, yeh man a real street truck runs them,,Exactly the thing guidelines similar to the afore mentioned one will eliminate,,Are they perfect?maybe not,,But they are or would be quite functional leveling out the field by making the trailer queens or built for one purpose trucks do it all, like everybody else,,Remember this, there will be a time when your handed it on a plate by a stick truck and one could only wonder if you'd ever admit to it... .

P. S-Gene,my favorite proffessional pot mixer,I'd not bounce you for the headlight,a tube of JB weld will fix anything to get you up and a rollin,,Oh and ornery nah, just tired of all the he said, she said,You got it and I want it crap,,Time for the bull to stop, even the field and may the best product win, auto or stick, thats all..... Man there are too many Phords or Duraflats to terrorize,we need to get on the same page,,Shame of it is,its the same crap here as in class racing,GM and Phord guys are on the same page, while the Mopar group is to worried about there fellow mopar guys being to fast or having something they do not,Seems like it never changes... ... .....

Hammer,

The part that I was refering to was single turbo, No drugs. There goes the big hitters. I do have what your asking for. Single turbo, no drugs. But by there I will have Drugs and hopefully more than one turbo.

And the weight thing is a big deal for me. I would love it if we all weighed the same because then the light trucks would lose there edge. :D By the time Muncie rolls around my truck will weigh close to 8000lbs. So I guess I can't compete. Hopefully by the time Muncie rolls around my dad will have his new 2wd in that should weigh around 5800lbs. I can guarantee you that no stick will keep up with that truck PERIOD. For those who can't figure where my extra weight is, trust me it there.

About the slicks, I won't be able to run them next year anyway. So 4wd here I come. :D

About your stick vs. auto theory, I'm sure that one day mine will get handed to me but not with comparable power and weight. Believe me if it ever does happen I wouldn't deny it, I would just come harder next time.

I will give you stick guys one thing you guys always seem to have fun. That's all that really matters. Sticks vs. Autos is an issue that will never be resolved, it comes down to personal preference. As long as we have our prefered transmission working that's what counts. I'm going to stop the stick vs. auto s**t. It should be cummins vs. any challengers. :D Good luck to those who try.

Ah Yes,Fun was it not???

See Stefan,I told you that us stick guys do not stick our chests out and cause a ruckus,,Nothing like mixing the pot up a little,,See MGM uses a trolling motor to do it,I prefer something a little larger, say either a marine cummins or a set of Mercruisers,,Thats what I was saying earlier,It needs to be us against the Phord's and Duraflats, not all this squibbling between us,,Time to reset the target aquisition parameters here,,Fun man, thats what life is about,,Oh and since you weigh in at 8000 guess I'd better design a better weight break system,,I'll get that fine tuned before the first of the new year so we can squeeezzzzzeeee you in,would not want to let you out on this one,,Maybe I can add some weight to Gene for the busted headlight so he can fit into your class,,Ya know, one would only have to wonder how he broke it,,Maybe he was trying to push John Boy and that Phord out of the way,or after a recent chat with Officer Jabloney(due to passing his boss at a high rate of speed, that he tried to blame on Piers cause of the rpm kit),the good officer, after finding nothing wrong with his truck he could be cited for, made something,,Just a thought... ... ... .

I've got a local D-Max that I will be hunting. :D It's got yellow decals on it. ;) Hey guys are TDR D-maxes off limits, cause I might have to break the rules if they are. :D
