I've always stuck with stock tires for all my vehicles that tow trailers. I'm thinking of getting a bit "crazy" and bump my tires size up a bit. Truck is a '15 3500 dually with factory air suspension (not sure if they're lower). Currently has 235/70/17 if my memory serves me (at work). What's the largest size you think I can run without a lift and/or spacers without rubbing anywhere?

Mike

255's seem to be a fairly common upsize that doesn't require any other changes.
benefit of stock size tires is there are plenty of tire choices available.

On duallies you have to be careful in changes tire sizes. The rear duals can not touch each other in the bulge at ground contact. I have heard talk of spacers between the dual wheels. Generally it is not recommended.

Yeah, rear wheel gap is my big driver for this question. Yes, larger tires will have a similar effect to a numerically lower ratio.... but with 4.10 gears I have far more gear than I need to tow what I tow with my truck.

Wheel width is your other issue. The factory wheels are only 6 inches bead width, and the 235s are the widest tires approved for a 6-inch rim. Ford went to 6.5s in order to use 245s as standard dually tires... 245s and 255s can mount on 6.5, but they're not approved by the tire manufacturers for 6.

I ran some LT245/75R17 Firestone Transforce HT’s on my 2014 3500 DRW without any issues.

Didn't say you'd have problems. But if you do, the tire manufacturer will deny any claims if the rim is not an approved width. Running too narrow a wheel changes the sidewall parameters and their intended characteristics.

Is it possible to run a 265/70/17 tire at all especially with the Dually rears just curious I have 235/80/17’s on mine currently but was looking at the size listed above and the Faulken Wildpeak A/T3W tires what’s everyone’s input on that fairly new to the Dually world and am loving it just want to get a great tire for it, thanks in advance

I wouldn't on the OEM 6-inch rims. Minimum approved width is 7 for an LT265.
