Has anyone thought of putting an air vent in the side of the hood near the rear, and then ducting air to an airbox that would hold a BHAF? I was looking at the truck last night thinking that you could build a housing on the botttom, and then have a top piece attached to the hood which ducted air from the side. This would keep the rain out, and you would have cool air to the filter. It wouldnt require replacing the hood.

I am looking at these hoods as well. Does anyone, including Doug, have any before and after performance data on them (ie. EGT's, hp/torque, acceleration)? Just curious while I am waiting on my tax return. Anyone looking for a standard Forest Green Sport hood? :D

Its very hard to get ture data on my air bulldog parts every truck is differant but if you have a bombed truck your stock box is not going to keep up with the air demand and to prove that point all you have to do is keep an eye on your filter minder the more your truck is bombed the lower the filter minder will pull down with a clean filter, my systems use the stock type filter and the filter minder stays in place. So far I haven;t heard of any one pulling the minder down with my hood system. A guy that has one of my dam air systems with over 500 HP can pull his down about 20% but that system wasn,t designed for 500hp the hood or both together is. DD in Vegas has one of my hoods ask them what they think. If you could get Dr Performace to talk they also have one on there land speed truck for what ever thats worth. If noting else it makes a truck stand apart in a crowd. Some people like to stand out others don;t ,that one of the things that makes this country so great, we have the freedom to do what we want

Me? Stand out in a crowd? Are you serious Doug?

Diesel Dynamics likes Doug's Air Bulldog hood and it works well. The stock air filter has good cfm--the older Fleetguard model flowed 550 cfm but they didn't have the flow spec on their new one with the foam prefilter--it should be similar. The stock airbox, apparently the bottom, is the culprit. Even an empty airbox hurts hp when over 500. Doug makes a custom box bottom so that should help a lot.

To answer the other question, I am working on a cowl induction setup, but the BHAF has two problems--low cfm and too big a diameter to put a sealed box around it. I am working with a Fleetguard filter that is about 8x24" and flows over 800 cfm. The box is 10x24", ducts to a box on the underside of the hood that is open at the cowl. The outlet uses mandrel bent 4" tubing to the turbo. I expect to write it up for the TDR magazine, probably the May issue. you should be able to see it at May Madness. I just wanted to try something different, and am spending all my money on other stuff under the hood so couldn't afford Doug's hood.
