Dump trailer work

I saw allot of peaple selling almost new dump trailers after last year's huricane clean up. Anyone done any of this work or know who to talk to to possibly get into it? I hate to see stuff like that happen but the guys who were cleaning up were making some good money but tight lipped about it.

What happened to the car hauling thoughts ?? Same scenario, just get out there and do it !!

After talking to allot of peaple, car hauling was not worth the miles on my truck. At less than $1. 00 per mile and half of those empty, hook charges, maint. etc. . it would provide a way for someone to survive (maybe) but not make much money when all is said and done.

I was looking at hauling for a fellow TDR member but my wife spent 4 weeks in the hospital and still needs some attention. I was curious about the dump work because the guys were making good money (it seemed) but I live in NM so I need a contact of some sort or some solid information before I drive across the country to "just do it".

If allot is paid by the government then you would need a contract somewhat like the forest service requires which could be time consuming, which isnt a problem but needs to be planned for.

That dump trailer work in FL is not what it appears to be. One of my buddies with trucks went down last year and wanted my company to go too. I stayed up here. He lost his butt and now has sold off his trucks and did Ch 13. If you can get in on the top, then yeah, its good. If you go down and work for someone else, who also is working for someone else, it sucks. You may be staged for days, waiting for the go-ahead. all with no pay. And then, you gotta hope that the broker pays you.

i agree most of that works runs through FEMA and it is a pain usully takes forever to get your money if you get it at all.

DHayden, you might check in the Farmington/Aztec area for oil field work. It used to be a hot bed for this type work, then went kinda stagnant but it may be going again. It's still a long way from your home base but at least it is in the same state.
