I did not take any pictures as there is another tread here with very good ones.

My tear down went a lot better than expected. I got started about 10AM on Saturday and by the time 4:30 rolled around when the hobby shop closed I got both axel shafts out of the truck and the short shaft u-joint cut and pressed out. All 4 balljoints pressed in and out. I was happy with the progress.

On sunday I got the other u-joint cut and pressed out so I started pressing in the u-joint for the short side.

The first box I opened the joint was trashed, rusted and fused together. So I grabbed the other one and promptly bent a roller pin. So I go to CarQuest and they wanted $60 each for non breaseable ChiComm's I get back to the shop and decide to just hang the steering knukles and wait for UPS to drop off my u-joints.

During the install of the passenger knuckel I guess I hit the treads of the upper balljoint and messed them up, I didn't notice till I cross threaded the nut.

Does anyone know for sure what size tap and die I need to get the threads straight on the balljoint and nut?

Nnfortunatly the hobby shop is closed till friday noon but i am not getting charged stall time while they are closed. But that gives me time to get my parts back together.

Another plus for Dynatrac customer service. I sent them an email telling them what happend and the info I needed and within an hour I had a call and they told me that the treads where 5/8x18. That is exaclty what I guessed them at.

So u joints will be here sometime friday thanks to rockauto.com. Hopefully the tap will be here friday or daturday. I was not able to find a die in that size so it looks like I am going to press that joint back out and use some small files to straighten out the threads. The damage is on the first three treads so load handling should not be affected.

Hope you have good luck with Dynatrac. I could not deal with them. I went with Yukon free spins. Should pick the kits up Monday.

Alright! Glad to see they took care of you. Report back on fuel mileage changes (if any).

Cumminz... what was the problem you experienced in dealings with Dynatrac?
