I have a new truck on order and am considering getting the Dodge-Cummins e-brake at the time of purchase and hoping for a nice discount. If I do manage to get a deal, what is involved in installing it myself? I have no experience with the CTD, and am reasonably handy, but not a "gearhead". I am very comfortable with electronics and wiring.
Thanks for the assistance.

Trailite 21' Travel Trailer, ~4000 lbs loaded.

The install is very straightforward and the instructions that come with it are great. I did mine myself and I had no problems. I would suggest relocating the on-off switch to the gear shifter. I used a two-speed axle switch that I got at NAPA.

Yes,a very simple and straight forward installation. The instuction booklet has step by step pictures for those that don't like to read. #ad

Ken,I recently purchased a cummins E-brake from mopar4less delivered to my door for 491. 00,install was easy,I was on night shifts at the time and stayed up one day (3hrs),simply pull the elbo from the turbo and install the brake, then its just simple wiring and vacuum hoses from there, you will have to mount the activation solinoid on the firewall its easy, about the only thing I can say is I mounted my switch on the ashtray cover as I willnot allow anyone to smoke in there so I intend on mounting all switches there,it is also convenient to use like a little door to open when installing switches. I thought I would get a gear shift switch too but have since reconsidered as I leave brake on all the time unless slick roads,if you are decellerating and do not need the brake it is simple to apply a slite pressure on the go peddle and the brake will not come on, my views Ken and remember "you cant have any fun if your scared" that is my all time best saying and then when some thing scares you ,then you say "I wasnt scared but I sure passed that guy who was" #ad

The instructions say to cut a rectangular hole below the cig lighter and power point outlet. Many of us skipped installing the on/off rocker switch in the dash and instead installed a push/pull 2-speed axle switch mounted on the gearshift lever. I'd suggest not cutting the hole yet to see if you'd rather install the push/pull switch.

Here is a pic of Big Saints' truck to sow what a switch looks like mounted on the shift lever... . #ad
