I am not a trans expert and since my dad is banned he cannot answer the question. If you want a technical answer you would have to privately email him at kondolay@shaw. ca

I did not ask anything:confused: I think GLASMITHS had a ? though.

If I have a question for Bill I will email or call him for sure, he has been very good about helping in the past.

Chris Anderson,

Just out of curiousity when did you become an expert on Automatic Transmissions? I realize you say that you are trying to help the members out, but you keep asking for more questions as if you are qualified to answer them which to me would make you an expert.

If I have answered anything incorrectly, please tell me. (ask Bill to read my replies and then tell you what is wrong if you want to) trying to learn through the questions of others, and try to help us all to understand how the modifications help our transmission.

that's a good ? bob. if he is you have to really take everything he says with a grain of salt. i am sponsered and that is no secret.

chris this is not a slam at you, but with the power you are making the 91 is way to tight. i'm sure with your power level you will be happy with a looser convertor from ats.

i have driven the ats convertor have you? or is all your experience with this product based off of phone calls?

you just seemed to have done a 180 and i'm wondering if it's becuase your getting the product for free?

it used to be that you slammed a product you never had (bd), and you praised a product you really liked and you paid for(dtt). to basiclly slamming dtt and bragging about a product you have never driven(ats).

the curb test you guys are trying to do is a tough thing to do becuase everyone is using a different truck and different curbs. if you want to see how tight your convertor is, try power braking to 15psi and tell us what rpm your at. this test would be a better test for everyone.

I slammed BD because I have seen first hand what a mess their early tc was (It was complete garbage and they were advertising it as golden), and how they treated their customers before they picked up on the importance of good customer service. After reading about members' recent experiences, I think they are now doing much better.

Anyone who slams DTT needs a fist full of hurtin'. If it looks like I have done that I appologize to DTT because Bill has done a world of good for our trucks. Just because I believe that a product has the potential to be better than something, does not mean that the product being moved to second place is now garbage. It is still as good as it ever was. I have already said why I want an ATS setup, so I will not go into anything I have already answered. I encourage further questions though, because we all learn from them. :D :D :D

P. S. Unfortunately I am not getting anything for free. :( :(

CUMINNTSTRKN-

Contrary to what you said "i am sponsered and that is no secret. " I didn't know that until I read it in your post. I don't see anything in your signature that indicates that. I think it would help a lot if those that had sponsorship or are an owner/employee identify that in all their posts.

Thanks,

Dave.

i was not playing with ctd back when they were selling the old style convertor. but i will ask you a ?. who had a better product out there 2-3 years ago? i'm not saying there wasn't one, i just don't know of one. back then 300rwhp was great and 400rwhp was un heard of. even ats couldn't hold the power back then. ask clint i'm sure he will tell you. just look what has happened in the last year, we went from a few people making 600hp to more people making 700hp+. i'm lookin forward to seeing everyone at may madness, it should be a good time.

sorry i was told from what i thought was a great source that ats was giving you both a transmission and some power enhancements.

there is nothing wrong with that you just need to make sure that people know that. just remember there are no secrets in this industry.

dave

i have changed my sig. i take for granted that people know, now there is no ?.

I've learned alot from TDR in the past year by a lot of listening, now it's time to talk. EarthRoamer, keep those stories about your trips coming. I really liked the Mexico trip. Been there and have no desire to return. Strick-9, keep pushing that envelope. I love it! As for this trans. -tc discussion; BD,ATS,Suncoast, & DTT people, keep the feedback coming, and control the slamming!

However, after almost 30 yr. in the auto-truck mechanical field,I have found this: Try to give anyone, in any given field, a call for tech support, and see what you get! Run around & BS. I met DTT through this site, and got straight answers and lots of help. All for FREE!! Try this with anyone else. Two of the biggest things lacking in the world nowadays are Honesty & Integrity!! DTT is both honest & trustworthy. The whole DTT-Kondolay family must be commended on the business they have established! When the other trans people offer the same support (web site tech help) and free phone support, even on Sundays & holidays, then they might have the same loyal following. Even if the bar is razed, I'm certain DTT will take it to a higher level! As for myself, and many, many other TDR members, we've got the best trans stuff & wouldn't trade it, not even for discounted or free OFF BRANDS!

We miss ya, Bill!! But follow your Trans-Talk.

P. S. I payed for all my stuff, trans & mtr. with my hard earned money! Thanks TDR for all the great feedback.

Cuminnstrkn: With the transmission warm, 15lb boost=1700rpm.

That might be off slightly, due to the fact that it wanted to take off real bad:eek: :D I was going to just sit there and let everything stablize - you can't do that with a DTT. I kept thinking about Stefans shaft:--)

fr8train,

I'm glad your happy with your DTT transmission. I picked the transmission that fit my needs the best. The DTT would not have been the right setup for me. I am very happy with my choice.

tcs

My brother power braked one time with his new ferd v10 and subsequently toasted his converter. It failed within 3 days. The ferd v10s are not even that potent. I have power braked very regularly with my x stator with no problems with slippage to date. with 15lbs boost i get 1500.

I am looking forward to replacing my entire transmission (and future mods) and dtt has my business just on bill k's knowledge and generousity.

This has been one awesome thread. I thank all of you for remaining cival. :D Oo. I think this might be the first transmission thread to go this long with out :-{} . ;)

I am SOOOO looking forward to may madness. Oo. Oo. Oo. :D

Jim, I have not looked at other technology available back then, but I will say this: the technology to make a stator exactly like the ones currently in use has been around for years. Doing an extremely poor job of hacking up the stator (like BD and others have done) is just someone’s idea of easy $$$. Is BD doing anything to compensate those who are stuck with an early converter? I hope so; that would be the right thing to do. From what I have read here, BD has now risen to a good level of customer service. Good stuff.

Now, if I was wrong in any of my answers to any question, I want to hear about it. Stefan? Your dad makes some awesome stuff, and backs it up with excellent service. He needs to stop thinking his stuff is perfect, because very good doesn’t = perfect. Extremely good doesn’t = perfect. Nothing is perfect and everything can be improved. Keep up the good work, but don’t get down on others for trying something new.

;) :D

Old Style junk converters

CC: Shouldn't we think about starting a class action suit? I mean they do it for less than this nowdays. With the new HDs' due out; maybe they'd just give us one to shut us up:D :D

Chris,

My dad has been working on his racecar as we have to licence on Friday. Maybe you did not hear me before when i said it so i will say it again. He will not tell me what to post, his point is that i am not a transmission builder and have no business shooting my mouth off or giving advice as it is not my area of expertise. He cannot answer at the present time as we both know he has been banned from doing so, i did hear him say this though.

May madness , he will be there and there will be no place for anyone providing incorrect or unclear information to the general consumer to hide without answering questions.

We are of course assuming that a companies with nothing to hide will have questions and answer periods after their presentations.

Strictly for educational and clarificational purposes of course as we are all trying to learn together.

Chris you keep suggesting someone is doing something new, but ford has been doing the same thing for a while now. As I have stated before just because something is new to you doesn't make it new technology.

I am glad Bill is coming and look forward to seeing him again! Why is he not giving the seminar? In Joe's schedule he listed BD Power as giving the tech. seminar on trannies.

As for new, well it is new to the Dodge converter, eh? I will ask Clint how the Triplelok compares to the ford unit, but I doubt it is very similar. Why do you guys hate this thing?

Well I will be trying the ATS transmission, and will be able to directly compare it to the DTT transmission. I will tell everyone EXACTLY what I think. If the ATS transmission is garbage, you will be the first to know. If I absolutely love it, you will be the first to know.

See ya at may madness!!!!! :D Oo. :D Oo. :D

Stefan,

Great job on the HP numbers..... Your dad told me all about it, guess we will see what it will do at the track now!;)
