Yo DM,

I read all your posts, you're quite the expert on Comps by now. You must have missed. . power at the red and black wires at the comp. One thing has me curious as to what you do for a living, you call an led a cel(charge elimination lamp). At least that's what it is in my trade.

My comp seems to work fine as long as I don't turn it off. If I turn it off by the little round button then it becomes recalcitrant, but after awhile it's ok. Turning off just the key everything stays ok. (So far)

CEpp. . thanks for the info, I will check the version. I gotta say one thing, that little black box sure makes a big difference. What's that they say about dynamite coming in little packages. Wow!! Can't wait 'til my 1. 5s get here. Well, guess I can:)

Hope all you gentlemen have a great Thanksgiving and thanks for the input!!

Jerry

Do the comp boxes say version 7 or 8 on them or is it in the serial # some how. The box I am looking at does not have a version # on it.

jdooner,

I run a twin screw polymer extruder @ BAYER polymers ..... I am a jack of all trades but no where near an ace in any. My fathers a contractor and we build houses durring the summer.

No... . Im nowhere near an comp expert but I did school my self a bit before buying a HP-$500 box for a $30,000 truck and I had my fits ... witch you know by now ... I wont take my box out of 2x2 till I get my gauges in and trany upgraded ... . sometimes when a ricer shows up the box goes to 5x5 some how

:) but for only a short time.

You've over estimated me ... ... ..... cel... ... ..... Check Engine Light ... . I wish I could say it was something fancy but it isnt :D

"""power at the red and black wires at the comp""" yes I seen that I posted right behind it... ... ... . my point was did you skin the wires at the comp and test them ??? Did you use a fancy tester that flows thru the insulation??? or did you test with a real multimeter?? or are you assuming the wires have power???

If you had the wiring harness disconected from the comp and tested the pins for power it may not show up ... the comp box may complete the circuit some how computer things can be wired-wierd.

just courios so next time somebody or me has the same problem I can have a likely fix.

worst comes to worst Id hook up directly to the battery and see if I get lights on the comp I dont think the fuse in the fuse box they recommened has lower than 14v test it to see if its less I wouldnt hook the comp directly to the battery . . you should be OK

"Currently Edge is up to version #8 for both the comp and drag comp. "

I wonder if anyone knows what changes might have been made, and about what date that revision took effect?

But I agree - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it... "

Hi Gary, welcome back. You must have had to change your call sign since moving to Oregon. I trust you are enjoying it up here.

Oo. and we agree on something, haha, with regard to "if it ain't broke"

Roger

I've had problems with 98. 5 with pump wire tap being recognized and then I had problems with 01 falling on its face call edge they will send you new product without any hassle

How are you getting power??

I ask this, because i had the same problem, sometimes the box would not respond and every other light was lit up. At the time i first installed it, i had the switched 12v power hooked up to a power panel fed by a relay (just like a painless wiring kit but homemade) When you would turn the key on all would look fine, but after cranking and starting truck, here comes the every other light drama. It was rather intermitent, but seemed to be worse when cold outside. Brandon told me to wire the thing straight to the cigar lighter fuse in the power panel and eliminate the relay. His theory was that during cranking, the voltage was dropping low enough to cylce the relay on and off and it was messing with the function of the comp. I thought he was nuts, as i had had a pm3 comp hooked up this way for over a year and it never missed a beat. However since he had installed about a bazzillion comp boxes, i took his advise. Guess what, It worked, i haven't had it do it one time in over a year and half.
