how long did Edge have your box the first time you sent it in??



they told me 5-8 business days ..... i am sure i'll get mine back this week... ... . so only time will tell if they got it right

I had a Comp failure several years back with the earlier version 7 firmware, the common at that time "Random LED" syndrome - called Edge, and they IMMEDIATELY shipped me a NEW replacement, never gave me the "surprised at problem" runaround, and then when the new replacement arrived, I simply returned the failed one - only took several days for the exchange.



THAT'S proper customer service - I wonder what has changed? :confused:



Maybe new ownership? ;)



Anyway, the ver 7 replacement has been flawless to date, hope it stays that way! :D

It took a week dropped in mail on monday got it back following monday. I just dropped this one on saturday but with the holiday they probably won't get it until wednesday and who knows how long they will have it to do testing.
 
i know what you mean i wish they would just send a unit that is operational, then have the user send in the defective unit when the new one is recieved, its way too boring to drive around compless! after the initial cost for the box, then for the drag upgrade, we need to be taken care of...

I agree 100%..... i may be adding 1 more to the PI**ED OFF the list once i get mine back and see how it works

UPDATE:



i got my comp back today from Edge (drag version) and put it in the truck and it fired up right away... temp here is 4C (37F) today in Toronto Canada..... so i will keep everyone up dated as it get colder later on in the week



so far so good

Forgive my ignorance. I currently have the Edge EZ box. I was going to buy a new one (I think it is the "{drag comp"). Is the version you guys are talking about the same as what I would be buying?

yes... . you can get either a comp or a drag comp and the only difference is the drag comp wont de-fuel on 5x5 over 2700rpm.

and after doin both the comp and the drag comp, i would never buy a comp, drag comp is the only way to go, 5x5 there for a reason and defueling is not one of em in my opinion. other than these problems of course... .

i got in the truck this morning and no comp. . -4C (27F)... . cycle the key again and it came on..... so i guess i'll be making a call to Edge today :-{}



i hope they get this fixed soon!!!!!!!!

I sent a email to them & they sent one back stating that they can fix the problem if I send it back to them. They are aware of the problem... . if they say otherwise.
 
so are we going to have someone send theirs back and get the "fix" i will do it but i dont know how accurate it will be considering it will get to upper fifties here today. or are we going to make them aware and then send them a bunch of boxes to figure them out and make sure they are right??

Mine is there as we speak for this issue. I have been on the phone with them today and they are still testing it right now. leaning towards a harness issue but still testing. They are keeping me posted of progress pretty good this time. The e-mail and phone messages I believe helped me. They are treating me good for now. I will know more later today and will keep posting here to let you all in on what they find.



Edit later today: Still testing can't find anything becch testing it they will do an on vehicle test later while its cold.

I call them today also..... they told me they know of the problem but they do not have a fix for it yet... . they said once the have a fix they will call me and i'll send it back for them to fix it

sweet!! baby steps... mine didnt want to change positions today. it was stuck on 5x5 but gave no additional power and like i said it wouldnt move until i cycled the ignition... second time its done that. grrr oh well at least they are working the issue.
 
No good news

I just got off the phone with them today and after testing it for nearly aweek they can't find anything wrong with it. They sent me a regular comp to use and are sending my original one back. They offered to send me a new drag comp but I want to do some experimenting to see if I can find what may cause the no power up while cold.



1- I am not a real fan of fuse taps, so I am going to do some voltage checks and find a cleaner 12volt supply and not use the fuse tap.



2- I have the original Batteries in the rig yet I am going to do some load and voltage testing in this area also and possibly install new ones depending on my findings.



Time for the trial and error method.



Any other areas anybody wants me to check please chime in. As the results may help many.
 
I doubt it could be any of those things, if that was the case there is a very, very little chance we all have bad connections or weak batteries or such. it seems pretty cut and dry to me, my comp doesnt turn on after sitting all night and the temperature is below ~30 degrees... i have an idea!



they are only ten bucks!!
 
Or maybe an in car heater blowing right on the thing. :rolleyes: I shuld have mine back on Monday and will start the process and keep everyone informed. The down fall here is we are running out of cold winter days for testing. :p I am leaning towards a voltage issue though, Time will tell.
 
Billvo, you won't need cold days to test. The Ver 8 also will not shut off from time to time even in the midst of Summer. I never had a problem with Ver 7, but sold it and then went back and bought an Ver 8. I have sent mine in once because of the issue of it not shutting off, once it came on by itself, basically the unit becomes unresponsive, unless you cycled the key. I sent it back and a new one was rushed too me. So far with the new one this has happend only once last fall, the first 3 LEDs were lit up and buttons non-functional, cycle key and all is good. It has not acted up since.

However I am sending it back anyway to have it looked at since I am refreshing my ride with a few new goodies, and chasing a gremlin, and I want to make sure all is OK with the unit while in the hunt for the problem.

If what is going on with my ride points too the Edge Drag Comp I will post what it is doing. I have a few other things to check, and want to pin point the problem before I speculate anything. So Please do NOT ask what maybe going on, I am trying to avoid a thread high jack.

This thread is a good thread as I have thought this issue was limited to just a few... ... ..... gotta love the power of the forum.
