I got my EZ on tuesday and put my truck on the dyno at work today. Now the dyno at work is for BIG trucks, class 8 Freightliners and such. The rear axle goes between 2 sets of rollers, not on top like most car dyno's. So I'm spinning 4 drums, instead of 2. The guys at work say it takes A LOT of torque to get them to spin, and the HP numbers for anything as small as a CTD will be low compared to a car dyno. Knowing this I did it anyway, it's free at my work.
I unhooked the box so it wouldn't add fuel, but left the boost fooler hooked up since I didn't feel like pulling the boost elbow and swapping all that over again. First pull was
HP 175, boost 28 psi, EGT post turbo 800. RPM 2500, speed 65, 4th gear.
Then I hooked up the EZ.
HP 210, boost 30 psi, EGT post turbo 750, RPM 2500, speed 65, 4th gear.
The dyno controls kinda suck since you have to enter the speed and then run up to that speed and it loads the engine. Rather than the dyno that lets you add a load at any speed. The dyno is outside and there is no big fan in front of it, so the truck got hot quick, forcing me to cut the runs short. Also I don't like to rev the crap out of my engine, so that's why only 2500 rpm. I think if I had a big fan to cool the engine, I would have run it at 2700 or 2800 but as it was she was probably 210.
I'm happy with the EZ so far, does what I wanted it to do. Smoke's at will nicely and gets up and goes good.
