I got my EZ on tuesday and put my truck on the dyno at work today. Now the dyno at work is for BIG trucks, class 8 Freightliners and such. The rear axle goes between 2 sets of rollers, not on top like most car dyno's. So I'm spinning 4 drums, instead of 2. The guys at work say it takes A LOT of torque to get them to spin, and the HP numbers for anything as small as a CTD will be low compared to a car dyno. Knowing this I did it anyway, it's free at my work.

I unhooked the box so it wouldn't add fuel, but left the boost fooler hooked up since I didn't feel like pulling the boost elbow and swapping all that over again. First pull was

HP 175, boost 28 psi, EGT post turbo 800. RPM 2500, speed 65, 4th gear.

Then I hooked up the EZ.

HP 210, boost 30 psi, EGT post turbo 750, RPM 2500, speed 65, 4th gear.

The dyno controls kinda suck since you have to enter the speed and then run up to that speed and it loads the engine. Rather than the dyno that lets you add a load at any speed. The dyno is outside and there is no big fan in front of it, so the truck got hot quick, forcing me to cut the runs short. Also I don't like to rev the crap out of my engine, so that's why only 2500 rpm. I think if I had a big fan to cool the engine, I would have run it at 2700 or 2800 but as it was she was probably 210.

I'm happy with the EZ so far, does what I wanted it to do. Smoke's at will nicely and gets up and goes good.

IF i understand correctly, your power readings and dyno loading was at 2500 RPM - probably too high a RPM for the peak - around 2000-2100 RPM is where power usually peaks with the cummins... You mighta picked up another 25 HP down at the lower RPM...

No HP is at higher RPM, Torque is at lower RPM. Here is my Dyno Run with Comp in EZ mode and DD1 Jammers. Dyno Run Max HP was around 2700 RPMs and max torque around 2200 RPMs. SNOKING

On my Comp-only '02, max torque registered at 1950 RPM, and max HP was at 2450 - that was on a dynojet - dunno where those numbers would be on a heavily loaded dyno, but I still suspect lower RPM, rather than higher under loaded conditions - sure would be interesting to see that test run again on that same dyno with readings taken at about 2100 RPM...

The way the dyno is set up I can run in any gear at any RPM. The only limiting factor is your speed needs to be above 45 mph, otherwise it gives a false reading. So I ran it in 3rd and 4th. Max power was at 2500, but I didn't buzz it any higher as the coolant temp went up pretty high. I ran it from 1800 to 2500 rpm. I tried it at 2000 rpm which is where I cruise at 70mph, and the HP was low, so low I didn't bother to remember it. It was dark when I did this so I couldn't see how much smoke there was. I finally got my RV 275 inj's today so I'll put those in sometime next week and make another pull hopefully next friday night. I must say the box really impresses me when I'm in 5th and want to pass. I can go from 50 to 85 mph in a heart beat now. Can't wait for those 275's. Now I'm afraid I'm on that slippery slope of HP! I've already started thinking about bigger injectors and twin's!

The advertised 60HP gain over stock with an EZ is not at peak HP, it is at a much lower RPM. The 35HP gain at peak HP is about what Edge claims.
