What could I expect in the way of performance with an EZ and a bone stock truck? Also I see from there website that they will be introducing an EZ Comp? What would this do for my little babie??????
P. S. I realize that work should be done to the transmission but my truck has an extended warranty on it and I now that this would not go over well at my local dodge dealership. So for rihgt now I am interested in a device that can be removed incase of warranty work. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appr... ... ... . Thanks in advance.

if you're afraid of warranty then you need to keep it stock #ad

what do you do with the truck ? upgrading your trans will go along way toward avoiding having to take it in for a warranty claim , and because you moded engine and trans has nothing to do with warranty on rest of truck .

as far as pulling the wool over the dealers eyes , you'd be amazed at what you can get slid by the dealer #ad

just the fact you have your real name and where you live posted has already got a strike against you if someone at your dealership cruises the TDR , just ask JNutter about that one .

Well at this point its all speculation on there part if in fact I used one of these items. I do very little towing with the truck and mainly use it around town. It seems to have plenty of power, at least for the first one I have ever owned. Thought if this addition could reap more rewards without comprimising any major component that it would be just the ticket.

P. S. I have noticed that many of the members bomb quite early in there trucks life. Do they just diregard the factory warranty much less any extended warranties?

If you BOMB then start saying now to yourself, "I am my own Warranty Station!". PowerEdge was on my truck at 3500 miles on the truck. Now at 17,400. So yes we "disregard" the factory warrenty, if ya wanna play... ... ya gotta pay... . sometimes #ad

Thats why I added "sometimes" #ad

My trucks in for warrenty work as we speak, yes I romeved the PE itself, but left the harness in the truck, just "hid" it. Should take bout 15 minutes to put back together (including spring on the wastegate for the boost).

First time ever without my truck for more then 1 day... ..... #ad

Okay enough about warranties and back to my original question ( what kind of performance addition could I expect to gain? ). Anyone out there with this product, please respond on the performance gains with a stock truck.

I'm interested in an ez ,ez comp , dd tt or one of the other boxes. I have not even recieved my truck yet. So is there one box to get the most fuel mileage( I think I'm saying more timing) ? I will mostly be concerened with because I get reimbursed for mileage from work at 34. 5cents per mile. ETH/DEE w/3. 54's 2500 Quad sb

Steve and Jeep, the EZ will make a big difference on both of your trucks. It will add power for sure and maybe a little fuel economy. It does remove quickly for warranty service. I have not seen a Comp box yet but I would guess that it will hook into the pump wire like a PE. That will make it a lot harder to hide from the dealer and will take a lot longer to get off for warranty work. It will also torch a stock auto transmission. Call Edge to see if it will work well on an ETH, lots of the other major boxes do not work well on the ETH (not a lot of power gains).

LSMITH, Will the ez have an adverse effect on my transmission?

From what I heard it seems like this. .

A Dodge transmission behind the Cummins is allready being pushed to it's limits.

For more horsepwer added to a stock (umnodified) auto transmission the less power is put to the ground, and more of the power is changed into heat.

I think it's something like this,,

If you put a "box" on that puts out 50 Horsepower more, the umnodified transmission will only put out about 25 Horspower more to the ground, and the other 25 horsepower gets converted into heat.

Heat is what kills auto transmissions.

Slippage causes heat, and wear, and Heat kills all the seals.

Just my two cents

I agree that heat is the worst enemy of the auto but what if you took measures to reduce the heat load? Also just for discussion, about how long should a stock auto last behind one of these beast. I have a mag-hytec double deep pan and plan on changing my fluid and filter about every 20,000 miles. Thats a shorter drain interval than dodge recommends I believe but my thought is to try and head off any problem before its gets started and dont mind spending a couple more bucks to do so.

Steve, your transmission should be OK with just the EZ, but a few guys have been able to slip the TC clutch with just an EZ or a VA. It will certainly not help the transmission, but should not kill it if there is no slippage. If you put one on and slip the TC clutch get the line pressure up ASAP. On the other hand, you are at about 98-2% odds of adding more goodies. It gets in your system and a suitable flushing agent has not been found, so get a VB. I think a VB from DTT is under $400. Then you will have no worries about slippage even when towing heavy. The transmission is not at it's limit stock, or even after several mods, but the line pressures are not high enough to prevent slippage which will kill the transmission in short order. The stock TC is a raging P. O. S. though. JMHO. Hope my ramblings helped.

Steve Ford, you could do a search on the EZ, but here's the scoop. On a bone stock 01 Auto, and if you don't tow anything, you'll be okay.
The EZ alone will not kill your transmission, if you don't tow. But the power is addictive. It gives a great boost in the lower RPM's and is done by 2500.
If really interested in trying one of these, send me an e-mail. Pricing is very competitve on the EZ right now. The new Edge-Comp will be too much for your transmission stock. The Comp is like the EZ and the PE combined. Major fueling=major power=major FUN!

There are three adjustments on the EZ for when the fueling kicks in, too. But I don't know too many who take it off of #3.
