from what i understand if i install an egt gauge im opening a can of worms if down the road i have any warranty problems. considering all the nightmares i read about in these forms. how hard is it to install a egt gauge?
I believe this is the post where you talk about warranty claims. I am with JHardwick in the sense that I can't see the logic in running an EZ, which is a garunteed problem maker as far as warranty, but being unwilling to run an EGT gauge which has no bearing on any warranty claims.
If you run BOTH the EGT gauge and the EZ, you significantly reduce the chances of a melt down and the need to make a warranty claim right?
If you go out and pull your boat on level 2, burn down the motor and take it to the dealer, you are going to have a problem, they can detect the EZ. If you install the gauge and pay attention to the EGTs while running on 2 or even 3, you stand a much better chance of not burning down the motor and having to visit the dealer.
If setting a code is an issue, that is going to be a tip off to the dealer that something has been altered, and they will void your warranty.
Install gauges, watch them, and run however/whatever you like. I agree though that running the EZ, towing and not having gauges is pretty foolhardy.
