I've sent emails to the support page of the products group but have not gotten an answer. I'm looking for a way to watch some of the several exhaust temps available at the OBD2 connector. I do not want to have to install the EAS EGT kit which requires drilling into the manifold. Which temps can it read without the addon?

There are PIDs that monitor i think scr inlet dpf inlet and dpf outlet. Monitor the one closest to the turbo. They should be already ready to be used on the edge. I had one in the past and need to pick up the unlock model soon.
Also, unless it is pre turbo it will not be as accurate that far from the motor. Should give you an idea of what is going on though. I will install their probe in the rear block off plate when i delete down the road.

I got this reply from PTEdge Tech.......

Yes the Insight will read those EGT readings by plugging into the OBDII port on that truck.

Thank you,

Subject: Insight CTSII PID

Looking at your web pages does not show that the CTSII - 84130 will give me any of the exhaust temperatures available at the OBT II connector listed below .... although some folks on some of the diesel forums say it does display some of them. I have a new Ram 2017 3500 w/cummins 6.7 and want to be able to monitor some of the exhaust gas temperatures.

Will the CTSII display any of the available exhaust gas temperatures?

• Exhaust Temp Sensor (EGT1) is after turbo • Exhaust Temp Sensor (EGT2) is at rear of Diesel Oxygen Catalyst (DOC) • Exhaust Temp Sensor (EGT3) is at rear of Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) • Exhaust Temp Sensor (EGT4) is at center of the Selective Reduction Catalyst (SCR) near the ammonia sensor.
• Exhaust Temp Sensor (EGT5) is at rear of the Selective Reduction Catalyst (SCR)

I have one on my 2018, make sure when you get the unit to go on there website and update the unit and then it should show everything you wanna see. Mine even shows Transmission Line Pressure, i thought that was pretty cool. Like others have said, there isnt a factory probe before the turbo so if you want that you would have to install one. If you have a dealer install the probe and run it through the firewall it shouldn't void your warranty because u are not tuning anything. You just want to monitor parameters.

Are you guys buying the standard cts2 or the unlock model? I want the ability to be able to unlock in the future with no risk of accidentally unlocking the truck before it is time.

I have just the regular monitor one, they sell the cable separately also so you don’t have to buy the unlock version. Not sure if it’s cheaper bundled or not though. The unlock cable is 39.99 at most places.

That is great. I did not know if it was the unlock cable that was different or some other portion of the devise which enabled the unlock. I did not even know they could unlock until i was on a vendors site and they had that version available with delete kits.

I just heard about the cable unlock ability a couple months ago. Looks like it was introduced beginning of this year I think. My 2018 isn’t supported yet though.. gotta wait lol..

OK guys I have the 84130 on my 2017 Dodge Cummins. Is there a PID I can monitor to let me know how full or plugged the DPF exhaust filter is getting and put my truck in to a regeneration. That way I can tell if I need to drive it a bit more to allow it to clean completely.

I see parameters that show when it is ON or OFF. But I can’t find one that indicates it’s getting plugged up and going to start cleaning.

RAJohnson, you’re seeking a measurement for Soot Load. The CTS2 indicates Soot Load in percentage and when it reaches a specific level then the engine goes into regen and will indicate ON on the monitor. The problem is it is indicated on the CTS2 for the Ecodiesel but have never found it for the Cummins. This is why I dumped it for the ScanGauge II but am certain the CTS2 has to indicate Soot Load some way by now. You might check with the manufacturer to see how to get it to indicate Soot Load percentage.

Just received this reply from EDGE. Hopefully they will figure it out and offer a update.

We could not get an accurate reading from the truck if the DPF was getting plugged or not, so we did not put that in the PID list. But if you drive the truck above 65 MPH once month for about a good distance it will go into an active regen and deep clean the exhaust it should keep it clean. If you idle a lot, you may need to do that a couple times a month.

Thank you,

Amazing response from Edge....in simple terms, our $400 CTS2 can’t display Soot Load percentage like the inexpensive $120 Scan Gauge II. Or, we didn’t program it in because you just need to drive the truck over 65 for a number of miles at least once per month. Mind blowing response and a customer service failure!

I've been considering the purchase of the CTS2. PLEASE keep us posted of any further developments.

That truly was a lame response. I would hate to think they are to busy to really answer the question.

Are you able to see the EGTs at this point?

Thanks,

Oh yea all the EGTs are there for your viewing. Only thing missing I can see is the soot load, giving you a idea as to when it will go into a full blow regen. I just took a trip and put on 600miles and it never went in to regeneration at all. I was no sooner home and took a short drive and it went in to regen. Only way I new was DPF status went from OFF to ON and the green light located in the top center came on. I was monitoring EGT2 and EGT3 and they both climbed to around 1k. I was also watching DPF line pressure and one other DPF pid and neither one had a noticeable difference either befor during or after the regen.
