I got my first CEL yesterday that came and went but I was able to convince the wife I need a monitor to read the codes when out on the road camping. I like what I have read about the Edge Insight, but saw the MSD Dash Hawk and it appears to be very similar.

The Dash Hawk appears to be a bit cheaper and also lists that it works with many late model vehicles with the same electrical bus/OBD system. The Insight site only indicates it works on the trucks. It would be nice if I could get something that worked for more than just my truck.

Did I mention I just hit 9,000 miles and had just changed the fuel filter (new FS2 style) and moved my trailer brake controller myself last weekend? Hopefully the CEL is not something I did. I also just got the lasted download/recall done last week with no other CELs prior to this.

Does anyone have any feedback of the differences or if the Insight works on other vehicles?

don't get the dashawk, they are no longer in production and have no customer support. the insight is the same thing from edge, edge bought the msd dashawk. they also got the development team. unfortunately they don't make a software patch for the dashawk to use the edge software.

my dashawk does read several parameters, but is unable to read all that i wanted it to read. the insight wasn't in production yet when i bought my unit.

hope this helps you decide.....

Thanks!

That does help. Although, now I see Edge is releaseing a newer version (Insight CS) next month, so I will probably wait for that one.

Thanks again,

Chris

Love my insight... just hate taking it out everytime I have had to go to the dealer for computer reflashes and when I lost the turbo... 20,000 miles 1 ton dually... easy to put in yourself as you will want to watch if you don't since you don't want the dealer to see it...

Wow. . I need to go to bed..... should say that it is easy to put in yourself... this way you will know how to take it out and put it back in should you need to go to the dealer. . They don't want to know that you have a power booster on the truck is the reason and it can void the warranty if they want to get sticky... I bought mine for the regen alert, turbo timer, power boost, and the gauges...

the dashawk and insight are just monitors. no problem with leaving them attached. except i always unplug it, for the tech. prior to leaving my keys at the front desk.
also i would recommend unplugging it if your not going to use your vehicle for a few days, as they will draw your batteries down. ask me how i know... ... i now either unplug it, or plug in the little solar charger. when i'm not going to use my truck for a couple weeks or longer.
i use my little truck for most of my non towing/hauling duties.
