I installed the Edge Juice w/Attitude about two weeks ago. Install was simple. Went exactly as described in manual. I have no codes or any apparent problems. I did limited testing on Level 4 and Level 5, just to make sure that everything was ok. Everything seems fine.

What I did finally notice is that the "Transmission Setup" option to defuel on TC slip will not stay set. The "Lock" monitor flashes on and off when this happens. I set it to "On", but the first time the transmission locks up, the option resets to "Off" by itself. With a stock transmission this is not good.

I talked with Edge on Friday afternoon. The support person is going to check to see if they will ship new unit or if I have to send my unit in for reprogramming. Pain in the ***** either way.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this or other issues with the Juice/Attitude?

I really like the Juice/Attitue functionality and options, but this is one option that must work for me. I am planning to upgrade the TC and transmission soon, but now I cant play until I do. Can't take a chance on hurting the transmission until upgraded.

I noticed in your signature that you already have guages. Did you install a second pyro for the edge? If so where did you mount it? Thanks!

I have not installed the Edge pyro yet, for now I will rely on my Autometer gauge(pre-turbo between 3&4). I havent decided where to put the Edge pryo sensor yet. After I do the trans upgrade I have basically voided all engine and drive train warranties so it really doesnt matter. I am considering an ATS manifold and would put one at 5/6 and the other at 3/4. The other option is one pre-turbo 5/6 and the other post turbo.

J Volpe... . nothing to do with the truck, any realtion to Ed Volpe of Bay Area, Calif. ?

Iver Edwall 04. 5 2500 373 LS bed rug top airaid cold air intake, bunch other stuff

Mine does exactly the same thing. I,ve called them several times and my last option will be a new unit. I've had good customer support in the past so I don't forsee any problems. In a way, I'm relieved to see that I am not the only one with this "wierd" problem.

Hmmm... maybe this is why mine didn't defuel when the TC started to slip in #5 as I know I enabled it right after installation. I'll check on the way home if it resets to off by itself.

IEdwall,

No relationship, at least that I am aware of. Grandfather arrived from Sicily around 1913, lived in Colorado most of his life. I was born in Houston, TX quite awhile ago.

RKerner,

It is one of those things that you have to look for. The only reason that I figured out what was going on was I set one of the monitor display options to show trans "Lock". A couple of times the "Lock" icon would display for a second or two and then go away. Then no "Lock" icon. I'm thinking that I already screwed up the trans. Then I check the "Transmission Setup" option and its "Off". I thought it was "On", reset and then realized what was happening.

The transmission is working fine, at least so far. The problem is now I can't trust any of the monitoring functions. I think they will need to send me another unit or a refund.

Got an email from Edge today. They are going to ship me a new Juice/Attitude and I will ship back original.

The problem with "Transmission Setup" is still there although sometimes it stays set, but never shows actual "Lock" on monitor.

I disconnected the fuse tap and reseated all connections just to make sure. No change.

Also noticed at the track last night that Level 3, with Low Boost Fueling set to 3 was the best performance. When I set to Level 4 and set Low Boost Fueling to "most responsive" I lost a lot of power and almost 2 seconds off 1/4 mile time. I never even condsidered level 5.

Edge Juice/Attitude replacement MISTAKE!

OK, well here is my update. Got the replacement Juice/Attitude from Edge today, took a week, that is ok. First install went so well I decided to remove and replace the Juice/Attitude tonight.

Mistake!

The replacement Juice box had same manufacturer date 1/20/05 and code version 1. 0. I thought that the guy on the phone said there was a code/flash upgrade??? The Attitude box had version 1. 1 with a 2/24/05 date, the original Attidute was a version 1. 0.

So I replaced the Attitude box first and everything was exactly the same. No codes, everything seemed fine except the "Transmission Setup" would change from "On" to "Off" by itself. When the transmission locked up the Lockup Icon and Slip reading would be there for a second then go away. This was the original problem I was trying to solve.

So then I replace the Juice module, that was THE MISTAKE. Plugged in everything and checked all the connectors twice. Started up the truck and ran very rough. Noticed "Engine Check" light. Shut down and checked all connections again. Started the truck, same as before, ran rough. Checked Codes; P0205, P0206, P00882, P0973, P2149, P2769.

Removed everything and check all stock connections twice. The "Check Engine" light went off after the third start, but all the codes remain after an 8 mile test drive.

Truck seems to run ok, but this is now a PITA. I have to drive at least 300 miles tomorrow starting at 5:00am and be home by 6:00pm to drive another 50 miles a little later. I dont like driving around with codes like these. Some I cant even find a DC description for. I doubt my Innova 3100 OBDII Code Reader will clear any of these.

I will call Edge tomorrow and ask how to return both units and get a refund. I really thought this was the perfect Box for me, now I guess I will have to reconsider the TST box.

No matter what box you get, you can find someone with a problem. I have the Juice with no problems, I love it. I had the Bullydog downloader and had big problems, they took it back gave me a refund, and said it was impossible for it to do to my truck what it did. Go figure.

Tim

It is strange how different truck do different things with the performance upgrades. I have a 2004. 5 with bullydog downloader and on the performance (90)hp setting it is great . No problems at all.

Check with SRH on that problem

SRH is a member and a Juice beta tester. I'm pretty sure he described having had that problem with one of his beta units. Check with him.

OK, so I was too tired and irritated last night to use my OBDII reader. Plugged in after I got a chance this morning. Read all the codes and selected erased the first DTC P0205 and poof all codes were gone. I guess the reader is better than I thought.

The first Juice/Attitude I installed was great except for the one "Transmission Setup" issue. No codes and all Levels appeared to work fine.

Now to call Edge and see what my next step is.

codes

I had a similar issue with my install, it turns out that two of the wires on the harness for the 1/2 injectors were switched, I called edge and the told me I could either send it back or switch the wires myself, 2 min. later everything ran fine. Mine only threw one code (P201 I think). Sounds like you have a little bigger problem than just two crossed wires, but the rough running sounds very similar. just my . 02. Hope everything work out ok.

I spoke with Erin at Edge. He had another local truck with Juice/Attitude yesterday with the same exact problem. I am keeping the original Juice and the new Attitude and sending the other back. He said now that he has seen the symptoms and has local box to diagnose he will find a cure. He is going to call me by tonight and let me know what he finds out and give me as estimate of how long to correct programming if that is the problem.

I am satisfied with the customer service and response. Just wish I did not have the problem to begin with.
