Lift Pump Question

Put my Mach II in last weekend and have had a couple of days of driving on them so I thought I would post some results. Overall I like them but they do smoke more the I was hoping for. I didn't touch anything else so I could get an idea of what each mod does and so far this has to be the best power wise; tomorrow I am putting in my new Dodgezilla turbo. I have a few questions about the injectors though. First is after I put them in my idle dropped 225 RPM - is this a normal thing? Second, it does not seem to run as smooth especially right around 1500-1600 RPM - is this normal? Lastly, my egt's are WAY down at idle to the point of it not even moving my egt guage so I got out my temp gun and checked the temp on the manifold on each cylinder right at the point where the manifold connects to the head and the hottest cylinder was 110 deg. Is that normal?

Thanks,

David

David,

not sure about the RPM drop- mine didnt, with either set. I had a set of Mach1s that were just too hot for the nonIC truck, and they smoked almost as much as the bad stockers. I had a set built that flows same as stock, and they will still get hot, though not as hot as the stockers. They were a nice improvement over stock; almost no smoke now, though I am starting to wonder about my pump. I had to do a few adjustments to get the smoke down.

THe EGT drop sounds about right on; not sure about the smoke. Rip and I came to the conclusion the VE doesnt build enough pressure to get the same smoke reduction from the EDMs that you get with the P7100 or VP44.

Check to see that you got each injector line EXACTLY straight on; if it is more than a degree or two off, it can make a big difference. What did you torque the injector nuts to? Were the washers the same thickness as the stock ones? Timing being retarded or valves hair tight will make it rough, and smoky, too. Hope this helps in some way. The Dodgezilla turbo may clear up some smoke for you.

WHat has it done to your MPGs? I gained about 1. 5-2, after I kept my foot out of it. Now have a 4" exhaust, and going through the same thing. :D :D :D
