Hi all,

I just purchased a 4BT out of a 'chip truck that had a dash fire that got hot enough to melt things under the doghouse. Since this 4BT has a VE pump, I thought I'd post here to see if anyone can help me get it back together.

The entire engine didn't burn, but all the valve cover paint is gone, as is the intake crossover tube's paint. The rubber connections to the turbo and intake show signs of heat damage, but no burn damage so I don't think the fire was actually inside the doghouse, although there is soot on the engine.

Obvious replacement parts are going to be the valve cover gaskets and bolt o-rings, intake gasket, tappet cover gasket, both intake connections, fuel lines and hoses, and Piers recommended changing the valve seals. Am I missing anything that I should check or replace to be on the safe side?

Thanks,

Joe
