Hey, what else have you done to your truck?? I have an '03 also (3500) have never had it quite... still from what i read here on the forum, check and make sure you have fuel... could be that CP3 pump...

First thing is to make sure your lift pump is functional.

Open the filter canister and see if there's fuel in there. If there isn't, your lift pump is dead.

For the next part, you might want a drain pan...

If there is fuel, close up the canister and open the water drain. Bump the starter, which will cause the lift pump to run for 30 seconds. Fuel should come POURING out of the water drain. I mean gushing out.

Don't crack the lines! It is dangerous w/ the high pressure. Can you hear the LP run when you bump it? If anything, loosen the lid on the fuel filter canister and see if fuel flows when you bump it.

Keep us posted.

Turn key 3 times to see if there are any codes.

A bad crankshaft or camshaft sensor will kill it instantly, or any bad electrical connection, plugs, corroded wires, shorted wires, worn insulation, bad ignition key switch.

Do you have a chipped ignition key? If u do try another one if u have a spare. I have experienced this on another dodge vehicle not a cummins though. If the key is bad it will start for a few seconds and shut off.

I believe the chipped keys are grey and the black ones are standerd

i dont think it is the pump cus before i changed the filter fuel was in the canister that holds the filter

The lift pump could die at any time. Hard to expect people to offer suggestions if you aren't willing to check them out:confused:

It shouldn't take more than five minutes to slide a pail under the truck, open the water drain valve and turn the key right? That will confirm or deny the pumps function immediately.

If the pump is working, I am sure there are more checks that will be suggested. Check the pump!:)

For us to really help, it would be beneficial for you to give us more info and feedback. It has been suggested you check for codes, check to see of pump is running when you bump it, check for flow. Are you checking these? How about some feedback?
