2018 2500 - My first diesel

New member PA!

I have a 2015 Dodge Ram 5500 w/a 12' flat bed,I've been doing the cleaning on my egr cooler and egr valve myself I have 142,000 miles so far my second cleaning I changed the o rings to the coolant lines going to the cooler and the cooler line with the bleeder screw is now leaking, the parts list that I got from the dealership the o rings did not have a part number, and the parts guys did not have the answer for me except must be a standard o ring buy the o ring kit and match it up,well that what I did and now it's leaking.can someone help me with this
Thanks

I have an ESN for a 2016. I don't know if it is the same as your 2015 and there is no drawing for the Exhaust Recirculation Water Plumbing on the 2016, SO, I found another Cummins application that uses all the same part numbers EXCEPT the Exhaust Cooler Water Outlet Tube and one bolt. The image and the parts list with reference numbers are below.

All part numbers are correct since the list is the list for the 2016, as long as your '15 is the same. I can't tell for sure without your ESN. Your outlet tube, #14 in the drawing, may be visually different from the drawing since the one in the drawing is a different part number than yours.

I would like to add the following..

(1) I'm dragging the Dodge Parts Guy back out from under the bus in this case....I spent 20 minutes (accompanied by a ham and swiss sandwich) on this project today using a 2016 VIN as Scott did within my RepairLink software which does not show EVERY little item on the Dodge side but is about 95% accurate.....
I COULD NOT find the EGR Cooler water plumbing either...tried all groups, several searches...no joy.....found everything but those water lines.

(2) Same result as Scott in Cummins, no graphic for that group. Used within 6 option codes but only one had a graphic. I'm going to ask QuickServe to load that graphic if possible. All six option codes are used at "BEX" only which is our engine plant so probably all used for RAM and Freightliner.

(3) I also checked Geno's kit which is pretty slick. However I did notice the disclaimer that these kits are not for "Cab and Chassis" trucks so I'm wondering what the difference is....

(4) We really need your ESN or VIN where it is a 5500 "Cab and Chassis"....very curious what is different...

Egr this is what they gave me 3c7wrmfl9fg530936 2015 DP

This is all they gave me was a break down of the EGR system, but it has a parts break
With this number on the top
3C7WRMEL4FG530960 2015 DP
AND THIS MIGHT BE MY VIN NUMBER

My vin number is
3c7wrmel4fg530960 2015
But I could not wait an had to give my truck to the dodge dealer today not making any money with out my truck running, this is what I found out today around 1:30 pm they had to order the dam part ,something that cost 4.50 cents is going to cost me a couple of hundred dollars but thanks for everything*
I might need to use services again

Understood, you had to get going. Wheels have gotta' turn.

Could you point them out just the same?? Really curious what is different (when performing an EGR valve cleaning) on the 5500. Will help us guide someone else in the future.

Mike.

Mike cleaning the EGR cooler and EGR valve is so simple,I watch a you tube video from motor city machanic, that made it so easy, but did not say anything about the o rings except to change them but he was not working on a cab and Chasse*
The drawing that was given to me is*
025 emission controls 210 EGR system 6.7L [ETK]

You did do good...:)

I'm going to reach out to the QuickServe team today and see if they will at least load the graphics for those two different option groups. I had no idea until yesterday that some of the EGR plumbing is different between the pick ups and cab/chassis rigs.

There is also a difference between the early 6.7 EGR system and the later version on regular pickups. I'm not sure about the C&C versions, between the early and later years. On the 2014 2500 I drove for awhile, I noticed a difference on the plumbing that allows easier purging of air from the EGR cooler if you remove one.*

I'm still down,I just by the dealer and now they have to order the other o ring they say was never there and I think that when I get the paper work from the dealer that the part numbers for the o rings will not be on the paper work so if you do find out any more please send it to me.
I'm retired from Northrop Grumman as a test electrician my hole life has been working on turbines engines, and you never forget
the small things like o rings.stupid question is there a cd manual on the market that one can buy on my truck

If the o-rings and seals you need are on the outlet tube, the ones in the drawing I posted are correct except there is one on yours that's not listed, 3058653 O-ring. It calls for one. These are the ones for the outlet pipe:

As I am sure you know parts guys have to be creative. The difference between a pro and just another employee is the extra mile. When I help the parts guy search a hard to find part,I expect that person to remember where the part can be found next time. The parts books don't always make sense to the point of who the heck wrote this.............Issues like this is why techs have a stash of small parts in those big tool boxes

You are right, a good counterman only has to be shown something like that once. We all have notebooks full of various hard to find parts, notes on liner protrusions / shims, cheat sheets regarding T/K brackets and install kits, you name it. Mine are still here in the office with me, 25 years worth of unobtainable information.......

I don't know about Dodge, but all of the various OEM's we represent have a conduit where you can alert them to situations like missing parts modules, confusing parts breakdowns, even modifications and improvements.

For example years back they was a constant issue regarding Detroit 60 Series oil cooler seals. There were two choices and if you missed the option code the wrong gasket and o-ring went out every time. One of my Top Guns (Jim) and I were talking about it, we decided that there should be a kit that included all of the choices. I called Detroit Diesel, explained what I was trying to do and in about two minutes I was talking to the guy that does kits. He checked on what I was saying and we figured out that 5 parts in that kit would cover all applications for very little money. Within two weeks it was available to buy from Detroit Diesel. Part Number is 23537789. We call it the "Jim" kit.......
That's the kind of support we can get from OEM's if done correctly.

My suspicion is as follows....Cummins offers no graphic of the EGR water lines so Dodge had no graphic to copy and load.... somewhere down in the fine print without an illustration is the Dodge part number for those o-rings.

I have submitted a request for graphics on both the pick up version and the cab/chassis version using engine serial numbers and option codes, hope that works out.

Yup,there are pages that have notes as well as not shown parts..Fca does have parts specifiers available by phone but many counterman don't want to waste their time on hold-lack of caring.I've been lucky to have worked with some really good parts guys but also the other end of the spectrum.
