Just reinstalled EGT gauge. First one installed by shop in bend 3 feet from turbo. New one installed by me in ex manifold following directions by TST. Big diff-much more responsive and 300-400 degrees diff. If you bump up the power-put the sending unit in the manifold-you get the real story.

I am assuming you know this, but the 300-400 degree difference is from the turbo not cooling the air that goes to your new set up. You also have to remember that what ever you used for a max egt with your old sensor is 300-400 degrees too low for your new sensor. Max EGT for 24v measured in the manifold is 1250 deg if I remember right.

JR2 -

I'm considering either the gauge setup you went with... or using Autometers tripple dashtop pod and throwing in boost, egt and temp for the rear end to fill in the last whole.

I'm pretty certain the SPA route is more economical, but, how do you like the SPA gauge itself?

Does it read well in direct/strong sunlight?

Does the LCD display "act up" in temperature extremes... IT HIT 108' here last week, much hotter in the interior of a parked rig.

I appreciate the feedback.

Ps. Nice Rig.

Max

JR2-yes I had heard about the 300 degree difference between locations. One other thing I notice is that it takes alot longer to get back to 300 degrees at idle with the probe in the manifold.
Mad Max-I have a dual pod on the pillar with trans and rear end temp gauges from Geno's-they are readable in any light(South Fla-we get some sun here #ad
)very accurate as when towing temp steady in RE but gauge changes with outside air temp. New EGT from TST works very good very sensitive and its in a double pod on dash next to pillar pod. Boost gauge next to it is US Gear works good also-it was a matched set but I replaced the EGT-see above.

MadMax,

I also have SPAs (2 dual guages) and whereas they are great, they are most certainly not the most economical! #ad

The only common complaint I've heard is that there is no way to dim the lighted background of the LED display.

Max- The SPA gauges are most definitly not the economical way to go, but they are nice. I am happy with them and will probably be expanding what I have installed in the future. The really nice thing about the SPA's is the ability to bring up you max readings and program the little light to go off at a certain reading. I set my boost limit to 21 and my temp to 1200. When ever I go over those the warning lighs flash and I can back off. I have had no problems with it in direct sunlight. As far as the LCD acting up in high temps I have no idea. I live in Alaska and we don't get high temps. I have used it up to maybe 75 (hot summer weather) and it worked fine. There were some people that had problems I believe, but I never read any posts. I think I would choose the pillar gauge over the dash mount as the dash probably gets alot more sun.

Jeepit - The SPA's are not like other gauges, there is only one power wire running to the SPA gauge, it supplies power to the microprocessor and the light. I have heard of people using window tint film to darken it up a bit. My personal opnion is that it is not that brite and I like it.
