Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Ehaust system

I am living in VA and recently was in Boston when my tailpipe fell off... . I went to a shop to have both the muffler ( muffler looked pretty bad) and tail pipe replaced... when I picked up the truck I noticed that the new muffler was about half the diameter of the old one but the tailpipe was the same diameter.



I questioned the shop and they told me they installed the correct one for a diesel, they said it was a deluxe model, but I'm now wondering my EGT's are slightly higher when climbing a hill now and I seem to have lost a little power... .



Any thoughts suggestions????

If your EGT's are higher and you lost power, then you have more restriction in the exhaust than you did before..... bummer!



(all else being the same of course).

I am going to tow my 5th wheel this coming week so I'l know for sure if I indeed have lost power.



I am starting to hate towing anymore with this truck but that's another story.
