GCrolye, I have a IR gun and plan to use it when we we start running up and down the big road in Feb. I just can not describe the efficiency of this system on this forum. Its that great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the PacBrake and use religiously. That's just it the brakes are original on the truck at 260K

That indicates that you are using the trailer brakes to stop the combo. I change my fronts about every 100k, with at least 1/4 left. I like to keep thick pads on, they heat slower. The truck is easy and cheap to R&R front brakes, I use 'em.

You should have an awesome combo with 8k torsion axles and air ride. Keep us posted on how the new disks hold up for the long haul.

I never used just the trailer brakes to stop the combo, I wonder how you came up with that. When I used all the brakes they were ok at best. Electric drums brakes where great in their day.Now I did that when I drove big trucks and pulling someone elses trailers. Using the combo brakes you get a much smoother action than just the trailer brakes. I realize this setup has its costs, but I think it should be an option that consumers should be aware of. You know like the option at buying a Cummins and a Asian trans. I probably have more tied up under trailer as I do in the trailer and I won't get it back, but the piece of mind knowing that it will STOP now is a awesome feeling.

It was just speculation from what was posted. What isn't posted will usually be just as important in making an informed opinion. The fact that the truck brakes are original at 260k and the trailer has a hard time surviving a year/6 or 7k, was the indicator I used, it may or not apply in your case:)

I also use the truck for long trips, and use the exh-brake as much as I do with the trailer. I very rarely drive in town due to the size and fenders. Besides driving my S10 gets way better mileage which is lowered, fat tired and it has a 5sp. Maybe some day when it grows up it will get a 4bt with a 6sp I just don't drive far enough in town to justify even starting it. I apologize Nick, but if you knew me you would see how hard I work the truck but baby it too. I guess that's why I can't justify a new 385/930 as much as would love to have one. Anyway I am sure I have made the right decisions with these setup and I am looking for many, many miles of trouble free travels

Best thing you can do . DIY about $1,600. Stop faster, bearings stay cooler ( no drums ) no electrical wires around your wheels . Can't beat em!

Well its been a while since I reported about the EOH brakes. Now that I have about 1500 miles of towing since the upgrade, I will without a doubt never go back to electric drum brakes. Had a couple of instances where I had to get down on the EOH system, and it worked like a charm. No panic stops yet but I am sure they will come. The price is alot for this system and was time consuming to install, (also put new axles in) but well worth my time and effort. Only next time I will have them installed when built. Thanks for all the replys and comments, Lets get towing and Rving to places Mike
