I have a 2010 6.7 with 68rfe trans. Bone stock as far as engine goes. With the way things are going EPA wise I don’t think I want to delete it. I’ve been google searching various options and have found a lot. I’ve looked at the Stealth Module, Banks/super chips hand held tuner, and the more expensive options from Calibrated power. Some require or suggest peripheral mods like FPR shims, or high pressure kits for the trans.

My main goal is a little better mileage for daily driving as I commute with my truck and some more power and responsiveness while towing my 12k toy hauler camping. I live in Colorado and most trips require pulling grade of some sort. I have no desire to race people or romp on it. I want reliability and some better performance.

Does anyone have experience with a emissions in tact tuning and if so, how do you like it and what products do you suggest?

I have always said "If you really hate the oil companies, drive the speed limit!" and now I can add "If you really hate the power company, drive the speed limit!" for the EV types.

The drive is less stressful at the speed limit. Life is more fun WFO at the limit.

I hear so many people state they get their best towing mileage at 70. I call "Barbra Streisand" on that!!! When I tow 60 I get 9, when I tow 70-75 I am in the high 7's. Just a fact!

What does this add on cost? Do the math what will you save if you gain .5mpg?

The only thing that I've seen that would improve mileage without messing with the emissions is to do Propane injection. Was quite the article that I read. They say there is added HP as well. Was a bit pricey but seems to be the only thing that doesn't mess with the emissions. JM2C. If I had the coin, I'd due the front axle swap to manual locking hubs and the propane injection. But I don't hove the coin, so it'll have to wait till then.

If you really hate the oil companies, drive the speed limit. To make more speed, you have to spend more money. I doubt that any of us are going to get to orbit the earth. Not because of lack of knowledge or desire. Most likely because to put one of our trucks into orbit would just cost too damn much on fuel.

Just Sayin'.

According to the Page yes.

But we have to clarifie something - you said you do not want to delete - that means taking hard parts out of the truck, tampering everything.
If you want a street legal EPA approved tuner, that's a whole different story.
That’s what I want. I have seen a few options as mentioned in my post that are epa “legal” and continue to use the egr/dpf. I wanted to get input if anyone has experience.

The only aftermarket EPA compliant tune I have seen is the Green Diesel Engineering tunes. Only available for a very few engines.

DRD makes emissions compliant tunes but they come with the cost of shortened dpf life and increased scr (def) usage. This all according to their site. Personally not worth it to me but to each their own.

Emissions compliant tunes can mean a few different things.

There are certified tunes to meet or exceed OEM emissions, or as you mentioned emissions intact tuning.

Be advised the later is still illegal like a delete, thou not as obvious and easier to reverse.

How much power are you wanting to add?

Very true. Last I knew DRD tunes did not carry the CARB certification. Probably why they claim shorter dpf life.

The Banks stuff is C.A.R.B. approved.
