hi guys. got my first diesel last year. . 98. 5 2500. . 5 speed. . problem is it didnt have a engine heater on it... . it allways starts. . but doesnt warm up for a long time. . so i ordered one fron genosgarage. . but not sure on what side of engine it goes. . any help will be great . !

Mine is a 3rd gen. but it should be the same - under the exhaust manifold near the front of the engine. Your thermostat could be stuck open or heater core plugged if it still takes a long time to warm up.

03-06 Block Heater Cord Install - Diesel Bombers

I didn't take out the air filter box and all that stuff. I just went in from the bottom. It is just aft of the oil filter. You can feel the plastic cover and even see it with a flash light. The cover screws right off.

My new truck had the heater prongs turned a little off vertical and that made it a little more of a challenge. There is a guide groove to help line you up the the rubber encapsulation on the cord makes it hard to feel.

Screw your cord onto the block heater and route the cord down the frame to your access point.

my 98. 5 has 0ne they all came from the factory that way . the cord may be coiled up on the RH side inside the grill. Open the hood and look just behind the rh head light.
