Just developed a problem with my truck . It is shutting down if I move the tilt steering, like there is a loose connection in the ignition wiring somewhere. I lose all the electrical to the dash. I managed to get it back into my garage but now it won't show any sign of electrical power to the dash and of course won't start.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Leon, on some rigs the wiring harness is too tight and unplugs the connector under the steering column cover when you tilt. Most times you can pull up enough slack but I knew one guy who had to splice on more wire to make it reach.

Surprised it took 8 years to show up.

Thanks Bill,

I did a search and found that thread. All I need to find now is a thin torx driver to fit in those small holes to release the plastic cover. I am going to have to get modern one of these days buy some more tools.

Well I thought I had the problem solved as I found the heavy red wire on the plug in broken and just making intermittent contact. I repaired it and still no power. Bill, is there a fuse or breaker that I might have tripped as after I had removed the plastic shielding and was fiddling with the plug and wires to see if any were loose, the red one arced. I know I should have disconnected the batteries first. I do have a manual but am having a bit of trouble figuring out what wire is what. None of the fuses in the panel are blown.

thanks again

Did some more looking around and found a 40Amp fuse in the box in the engine compartment blown so I expect that to be the problem but will have to wait until tomorrow to pick a new one and see if all is well again.
