Hey guys,

I have a problem with my truck, can't quite figure it out, maybe ya'll can help me.

Seems like it runs as great as ever, EGT's and boost seems to be normal. It runs awesome until I kick it outa gear coming to a turn or a stop, or when I rev it hard showing off:D Anyway, when the engine comes off of about any rpm's greater that 1600-2000; when it hits idle, it keeps going on down past idle, almost shutting off:confused: , and it does shut off when it's pretty cold outside and/or the engine is cold and you rev it high enough. If it shuts off, it will crank back with a 1/2 rev as usual. It doesn't make any abnormal noises otherwise

I've checked the fuel pressure - ok

changed fuel filter

adj valves, and changed pushrods to be on the safe side

bled injector lines

None of this helped, didn't even seem to make the slightest difference. Any Ideas?

Thanks, Steven

It sound like a sticky governor. The weights will spin out and push the actuator rod out to a spot with a little bit of schmeg on guide pin then as the revs come down the gov spring will try to overcome the pushed state of the rod on throttle linkage. If the gov sticks harder, idle will be lost and engine will die. If a little sticky, the revs will drop below idle but then the rod will "pop" lose and idle will return. I HAVE been through this. It might be something else, But what you describe sounds exactly like what mine did with this problem.

If what I think is wrong is the problem, the fix is easy,,,,,,,Once you have the pump off the engine and the top off. You cannot get to the gov shaft while the pump is on. Just loosen the jamb nut and turn out the shaft with an allen wrench. Just make note of where the shaft position is so you can reinstall it in the same spot.
