Thanks, Prairie Dog. Yep, $323 shipped to my door from Dallas (Texas) Dodge-- complete and ready to install. I was surprised with the price, too.

I was contemplating the the t-case output being the source of the problem. I have a 1 piece shaft and have the same problem that is hard to track down. Did you try the old DS with the new cone or just swap them all at once?

Cerberusiam, I remember a while back you asked if I had any kind of vibe at 70-75. I finally got to drive it at that speed and sometimes I seem to have a slight vibe and then other times I don't. The roughness I felt may have only been the road but I had a mechanic sitting in the passenger seat and he said he could feel something but again, that was on the rough highway and it was very slight. He's the friend of a friend and I don't really know what his capabilities are.
Does it get worse at even higher speeds?

No, by 80 mph it smoothes out nicely. Below about 70 mph it is smooth also. Its worse on rough roads and unuven surfaces but still definitely there on new smooth asphalt.

The 1 piece DS took care of all the rest of the vibrations. This 1 spot is all that is left. Considering the damper is gone wondering if is due to that or something else, like injector balance, t-case output bushing, etc.

Maybe even tires, not ruled that out yet as don't entirely trust the shop that supposedly did it. Need to find another one and have it checked.

Sorry, Alan. I swapped them out together. I was pretty aggravated and didn't take the time to see if just the tail cone would cure the issue. I'm sure you don't want to trial and error with your money, but the rear output cone was $89+shipping from Dallas Dodge. I did measure the runout on the new driveshaft before I drove it, and it was no more than . 015", which was a LOT truer than the old shaft. So, really there were 3 differences--new tail cone, new driveshaft, and the presence of a damper again. I wish I knew what actually fixed it, but I was so frustrated I didn't really care if duct taping a rock to the frame fixed it :-laf

My vibration started at around 74-75 but got more intense as I got faster.
