Great hitch! I have the 12,000# model and have towed my 10,000# travel trailer across the country, over mountains, etc. and the hitch works perfect. The truck actually steers better while towing and there is very little sway when passed by a big rig.

There is one thing I found is needed to do after every couple of days towing. On each swing arm, loosen the nut, and then tighten with a torque wrench to a torque that is good for your trailer - mine is 90 ft/lb. Is is important that you loosen the nut first to reset the tightening process, and don't forget to lube where the swing arms pivot.

The hitch I had on my previous truck was a PullRite and the Equal-i-zer tows almost the same regarding sway. I gave up on PullRite because of all the disadvantages, including the cost.

The Equal-i-zer hitch is a fine hitch had one for many years and many many miles. The holes that the bars go in to will ware to a point that the bars fit very loose. Lost a spring bar that way, but that hitch had alot of miles on it, and all hitchs will ware. Do not weld it after you have it adjusted. It makes it hard to adjust when you change tow truck or trailer:) :) :)

Clem, I think the design of the bars might have changed since you bought your hitch. I can only relate to my 12,000# hitch which is 2 1/2 years old. The swing arm bolts do not go through the stabilizer bars. The bolts go though short, heavy duty square steel channels, and the bars are just pinned in. The only thing that will wear are the channels. This system eliminates the bars from wearing and separating.
