erasing trouble codes

A few weeks ago, I removed the EZ and VA 3. 2; left the boost elbow in. Just checked to see if any codes popped up and had four:

0633 (skim key not programmed in pcm)

0483 (cooling fan speed)

0234 (turbo charger overboost condition)

0837 (four wheel drive switch perfomance/rationality)



I guess I can understand the overboost condition being that i left the elbow installed. However, concerned with the four wheel drive and fan speed codes. Any suggestions on what to look for? Although we were in the woods/mud last weekend, the four wheel drive seems fine. Curious about the cooling fan condition? As for the skim key code, I have had this for some time and am not concerned with (or should I be?). Any suggestions? thanks, James

I think I might try to find someone w/ a Smarty; have him erase the codes (you already have a record of what they were) run the truck some more and see if the codes come back. If they do, either have it checked out or remove the edge and the VA one after the other, deleting the codes each time and running the truck after each removal. Seems like that might be a way of identifying where the problem is if any really exists.

Thanks Tabbott. I have been considering the Smarty, which is why i removed both boxes; however, did not expect the fan/4-wheel drive codes to show up. I will get them erased and see if they stay gone. As for the Smarty, what would you guys suggest, the original or Jr. ? Transmission was rebuilt with upgraded tc, vb and shafts about 10K miles ago. Should I take advantage of the EZ and go with the Jr. , or, Sr. ? thanks.

The smarty will fix you right up. The junior is a great value but i you want all he bells and whistles, the Power on Demand is on sale til 04/30

Bob (or anyone), must I have these trouble codes erased prior to loading the smarty program?

no, when you hook up smarty the clear dtc menu will appear. erase and go. simple and easy .
