Last week I take the truck to the dealer for some warrenty work, and I tell them that the truck has a bad stumble on hard acceleration. I pick up the truck Tuesday morning and they tell me the LP was replaced with the upgraded one. Heres where it gets wierd, the mechanic that works on the diesels tells me that when he went to test the flow, nothing came out of the fuel line. Then, he re-connects the fuel line, and the truck wont start! So, what he figured happened was, the LP took a crap, and the injector pump was creating a vacuum, pulling fuel up to it! After changing the LP, everything was fine. Sorry for the long post! Just thought this might be something new.

Thank Goodness for extended warrenties! Cause they also replace the steering box and intermediate shaft, and both doors for rust, all for $100. 00 :D

Pretty common... Usually find it when replacing the fuel filter, it won't fill the canister any more... I replaced a buddies LP on his '00 for the same thing... Just hope that it didnt' do any VP-44 damage...

Yeah, Mine started doing the same thing just recently, and unfortunately I don't have the isolator for my f/p gauge yet, so I'm just guessing that it is the lift pump. I went ahead and just ordered a FASS. I'm a little worried that my vp-44 may be damaged, but its probably just paranoia.

Did you check for codes through the odometer, turn key on and off 3 times, leave it on the 3rd time an it'll show codes. My truck was stumbling too, had the 0216 code, VP44! The VP44's will run by creating a vacuum, but thats when they get damaged. Mine did that for a long time (I'm guessing). I put guages on the truck, found out I had 0 fuel pressure but the truck still ran. Replaced the lift pump, truck's been running fine most of the time. Just occasionally had dead peddle for 2-3 seconds at a time, pulling a load, I had a very slight miss / stumble, thats an injector pump, also a lopping at idle, sounds like a gasser with a big cam. VP44 gets changed tomorrow. I'm expecting to have a much stronger running engine tomorrow afternoon!
