Very good point. Usually when the grade steepens and if I have to drop to 4th and the load and EGT's go down as I am not having to work nearly as hard. Thou I am not silly heavy, only about 18K but its a tall barn door.
I don't see any difference in EGT's from humidity, thou there is rarely enough around here to measure. I do see a slight change as temperature increases. I have seen a report that states for every 1° increase in IAT the EGT's go up about 1. 5°. I would buy that as a general rule in the 70°-110° range, below that it doesn't seem to have much effect until it gets REALLY cold. The biggest effect comes from altitude, the higher I get the hotter I run. Last time I was in the Seattle area I was shocked how low my EGT's were, probably 100° cooler on a WOT run, if not more. I have enough turbo for towing WOT up thru about 6,500-7,000 feet, on a 75° day. As I exceed that I can't quite go WOT, but close enough for most uses. The only time I get close to EGT limits is pulling grades in OD, drop to 5th and all is good.
