I did clean out the intercooler. I used gasoline but dried it completely (3 days) before installing the turbo. What kind of things, talking turbos, could caus ethe egt's to skyrocket under normal conditions?
I just spoke to someone at Piers and they suggested that the exhaust housing is too big on this newer turbo or the bearings are completely shot. Hopefully it's not the bearings..... I'll pull it off and take a look this afternoon.
I found one problem - one of the boost clamps was tightened in a bad spot and had slipped and allowed to elbow boot to slip and suck air.
I got the turbo off and the housings appear to be the exact same. They have the exact same casting #'s and everything. I think I might put the rebuild kit in it as i already have one. Hopefully it was just that slipped boost elbow, however.
