Exhaust Brake with Allison trans Q

Did a search and didn't get to the info I was looking for so here is my question. Will an exhaust brake help braking when using an automatic with non lockup torque converter? Thanks any info.

Turbo Tom, OK , thats good news, help me out. Allison 545 4 speed. , since I don't know about transmissions. How will the trans do it itself? Thanks.
