My friend is buying a 92 and wants to know if you can put an exhaust brake on it. Do they make them for that year and is possible?

Yes they make exhaust brakes for them. 60# valve springs will have to be installed, not a big deal. Is the 92 an auto? If it is then exhaust brake will be no benifit with the stock auto. The stock auto does not have a lock up convertor. According to others here a 2nd gen auto could be installed with lock up. Without lock up, the engine will not effectivly slow the truck down, just the engine.

Mike is dead on - if the rig has an auto, an ex-brake will effectively be useless. If however the rig is a stick, definitely go with the 60# springs - this helps, as I understand, the ex-valves close better under the extreme back pressure.
