Well, I've been sitting in Cleveland for the past 4 days on business... and frankly with meetings all day and time spent afterwords sitting and shooting the **it like most of us do I haven't had a chance.....
The key thing that I like about the pacbrake is that it is separate system, so your not required to have a mechanical vacuum pump run by the engine... instead you have a small electric compress that can run a group of things. .
The compressor keeps a tank filled so you can supply, not only the pacbrake but air bags, air horns, and have an extra air supply... however the compressor is not designed to do car or truck tires... but will do bicycle tires etc...
The latest design I personally believe works better than the Jacobs... in that it comes up to the max 60 psi faster and stays there longer with with the relief system it has... you can't run more than 60 psi as back pressure as you might open an exhaust valve at the wrong time...
I own several work trucks, as you can see below... we know that you can tow up to 15,000 lbs of trailer weight and if your in the right gear, you can go down a 6% grade without the service brakes... and for us its all in brake life and the extra safety margin... our 04, now with 260K miles went to 160K before the first brake job... and we pulled a 23K lb trailer around the pacific northwest...
For years we were one of the largest Jacobs engine brake distributors in the NW... . but switched to PacBrake for features and benefits... . that must have been 20 years ago or so... and of course if you now want a Jake brake its installed by the factory when you order the truck... or for that matter a pacbrake...
Grizzly... as much as I'd like to twist your arm... and bend you my way... what I really suggest is that you go to both their web sights and look at features... and decide for your self... I'd love to have the business but respect that some guys really think the other product is better.....
