Well my truck is now at the "I" status, so I have been getting a few gadgets for my new ride. My questions are: 1) I have read the many post about exhaust breaks but; does the Jacobs E-Brake work with the automatic trans as far as the turning it on and off, or do I stll have to install some sort of switch. (I know it interfaces with the ECM but does it talk to the trans?) 2) Has anyone ever installed one on an automatic and not had any problems with the dealers and waranty? I am still going to install it but I am curious. Thank you all so much for your imput.

I know Cummins states the brake is for stick use only. Probably to keep DC of their back. Im not sure how or if it interfaces at all with the auto. BD is a good brake as well. From what Ive heard Cummins makes a different brake for the 2001s.

Unless you install a BD AutoLoc or TorqLoc or a "mystery switch", all of which will lock up the torque converter (during exhaust brake use), you will be wasting your money on an exhaust brake for an automatic equipped CTD Ram.

I'm extremely pleased with the quality and function of my BD exhaust brake!

thanks for the info guys, I am aware of the lock up situation, I just was curious if the J-Brake may have worked a little smoother with the ecm, but it sounds like since I am going to piss of DC anyways just go ahead and put on the BD with the autoloc.
