Hi all, I'm getting exhausted of having to replace my exhaust system every couple of years due to rot. I currently have an aluminized system that has a warranty. However, the last time (4th time), the vendor was giving me a little hassle.

Anywho, the truck is modified. Has an HX40, blah blah blah... .

I'm interested in getting a stainless system this time, 4 or 5", single or dual exhaust, no stacks.

What do you guys recommend, pros cons?

Thanks in advance.

The Diamond Eye that I put on a few years ago is holding up well; much better than I expected for aluminized, and I'm definitely located in the rust belt and out in the worst of weather and salt afterwards. It was also the lowest priced at the time and went on quickly and easily with zero hassles.

I don't know what anyone else's experience has been with them, but I feel I got my money's worth and that it will last several more years. Just about right on the sound, too. Reasonably quiet when I want it to be, but roars pretty good for a bone-stock 12v when I put my foot in it.

I'm using a MBPR 4" for a Dodge with an extra muffler to keep it queit. It is 316 Stainless Steel. Works well.

Summit racing has a house brand (mostly manufactured by an A-hole in New York) of all Stainless Steel exhaust kits for around $480... . I've used several sets. How they'll hold up to corrosive weasel snot on the roads I can't tell you, as I don't have that crap where I live..... we like to play on the ice!:D It's probably 304SS which is pretty resistant to corrosion. There are lots of options out there, such as Magnaflow, Silverline, etc... . try a look here... Exhaust Systems & Kits - 5. 9L/359 - Exhaust - RAM 3500 - DODGE - 2001 - SummitRacing.com

You may have to use your downpipe on the kits, though, as I'm not sure if anyone offers one for the HX40.

I paided less than $450 (now $510) at the 4wheelparts store for the 4" MBRP T409 stainless steel kit. It was simple to install and was built very well. My stock aluminumized exhaust was around 10 years old, and was still good when I removed It. The T409 kit has been on for approximately three years and has no rust at all. I should get at least 20 years out of it. I believe the T304 is overkill for anything other then a show truck(mirror finish). Both the MBRP T304 and T409 exhaust has a lifetime warranty I couldn't say enough good things about the kit/product. Good luck.

Thanks to all that responded. I appreciate your input.
I'm now seriously considering the MBRP stainless.

Thanks again

Funny this thread popped up.

I installed a 4" system from Source Automotive back in April 2004. Last night while on the way home from work, I noticed the truck was distinctly louder.

So I crawl underneath and find it finally rusted through at a clamped joint.

This aluminumized system lasted 6 years and 130,000 miles on some of the saltiest roads in the country. Not bad.

II see no reason to switch to a different product. At 224,000 miles on the truck, I'm sure what ever I buy will last the rest of the truck's life.

I still have the stock exhaust on my 2002 with 140,000 miles. How much longer will this stock baby last? I live in Louisiana, no salt down here.
