A member of another forum had a malfunctioning hood relese cable and asked how to get his hood open. I have wondered that also, so I finally did something about it.

First I removed the latch assy and drilled a hole inline with the spring attachment hole in the release lever.

I used a cruise control cable that had a couple broken strands in the cable, but virtually any cable would work. A pull wire that is basically horizontal could work as well. A few slight mods to the cable.

Then install

Now, to open the hood all I need to do is locate the end of the cable through the bumper opening and pull.
