Factory "Chip" on Fords???

I was talking to a buddy of mine with a new 6. 0, long bed 4 door 4x4. He said a few things that don't make much sense to me. On the subject of weight; I said mine weighs about 6,800 pounds (me in it, no load and full of fuel). He goes "mine weighs 8,000 pounds. " I said dang, that a lot of weight... he goes "yeah, Ford uses a lot of metal in there trucks". This made me smirk a little.



Then we talked about mileage. He said he gets 20-22 mpg and about 18mpg when towing his RV. Not sure how big it is. Then he proceeds to tell me he went to the truck shop to have a tuner installed and the technician told him there was already one installed from the factory. Does this sound right?

Smells like bull **** to me! Although, I saw a F-350 today and it did look like it had more metal than mine.
