Competition Head O-ringing

Competition Big Dog in Ft. Collins

I posted over on the 24 valve forum but think I was in the wrong place to ask this quesiton so I'l post here.

What is a fair price to pay to have my head Oringed and 12mm studs put in? I have had vendors quote REALLY different prices and just would like some input of what others paid to have this service completed on their trucks.

Can someone help me out here??

If you're talking about dropping the truck off and having them do all the work then it'll run around $2K for studs, rings, gasket, groove cutting, and to R&R the head.

don't forget Briarhopper. . Tom owns Black Mountain Diesel near you in KY... not sure if Tom does O rings. . but I'll send him an e-mail and this link

:rolleyes: Black Mountain Is no Longer a Company

I'm going to get mine o-ringed and studs changed in Salisbury, NC by Olee Poole. I think it will be about a six hour drive from Lexington.

For an O ring, Gasket, Studs and Labor (assuming ) you head does not need to be milled you could probably get it done for less than $1500. 00

Jeff, did you buy a new sofa??? I think thats where you will be. Hope you are doing well. I ran a 558hp 1082 torque on the dyno at PFI last week end. You shoulda been there to see the twin turbo truck do 651 and flat line 1500.

Hey Mike, thats funny you should ask! We actually did buy all new furniture. I wonder if the wife was planning ahead for me, hmmm... ... I guess I'll find out real soon how good that sofa is. :{

I read about your good numbers, thats sweet. Have you changed up anything besides a rework on the transmission?

Jeff, just a transmission rework. Had to have the billet stuff to go much further. Actually it dynos exactly the same numbers as it did before the freshen-up. Ya otta get a cam while you're at it and have it apart once.

Best Regards

Mike
