Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fan pulley slop

When I took my belt off to replace it on my 02, I noticed the fan pulley had movement in it. Is this normal?

No it is not normal. I just had to replace my bearing. You will need a press. The fan hub presses out then the bearing. There is a number on the bearing so you can order, cost about $75. 00 from parts store or from dealer it is about $165. 00.



If yours is loose it may be time to change, mine sounded like rocks were being ground under my hood. Of course this sound started about halfway thru a trip to Texas with the travel trailer.

Keep a close eye on it and change it when you get nervous.
