Is this something that is a real necessity on our trucks?
If you plain on some large fuleling boxes, then yes. A larger after market fuel pump is needed. Even if you truck is stock, the stock lift pump leave a lot to be desired.
Does the FASS bypass the stock filter?
The FASS does, the HPFP does not. BUT you can run the stock filter if you want to.
Does it hook into the factory lines or do I have to run a new line?
FASS replaces everything from the Tank to the CP3/VP44. We give 3/8" line to run with all the fittings needed. Return lines are left alone though. We have install instructions on our site to see what is involved.
Do I take the factory lift pump out if so?
FASS, Yes and NO. You leave it on the back of the filter head if its a 03-04. 5. If its a 98. 5-02, its your choice. You can leave it or take it out. 05+ trucks you leave in the tank and just bypass around it.
Is it worth the money, will it increase power any or just aid in making more power later?
We don't make any power per se. We restore lost power due to fuel being airated by driving. Also the 150 series FASS will aid in protecting your injectors with a 3 micron filter and the removal of the air. ALSO the added flow the FASS adds will support pretty much anything you can toss at it fueling wise.
Where do you get replacement filters and how often should you change them??
You can get them from your FASS dealer or a local store if it’s the 150 Series unit. If its the 95 Series unit, your FASS dealer will be the only place you can get fuel filters. BUT i have been told that the water separator for the 95 series can be found at outside sources. We recommend about a 50,000 mile life on the filters. The water separator can go even longer. You just clean it out with some gas or alcohol…. i would say a 4:1 ratio. 2 fuel filters changes to 1 water separator change.
Does it come with good instructions and all the hardware I need?
Check this out.....
Would it "HURT" to run the 150gph or should I deffinatly run the 95gph?
Wont "hurt" to run the 150 GPH on a stock truck. You may have in-tank issues with restriction... . but this is rare. 05+ come with a suction tube kit so you dont have to worry about that on those trucks. You just have to see where you are going to go with your build up and choose what system fits you best. If you go back and read some of my postes before, i covered what kit is better for what build.
Im really struggling with if I really need this at my power level or would the money be better spent elswhere?
I honestly feel that you money would be well spent. I have had my system going on 3 years now. (I have worked here for just under one year) I have never had an issue and it made my truck idle quieter. Throttle response was improved a bit as well. Nothing to jump up and slap your grandma about... but it was a subtle difference.
