does anyone have either the filter kit for the nv4500 or the fast cooler ? me and a freind are thinking about buying a set of fast coolers from genos garage and spliting the set so we each have one fast cooler and the filter thus giving us the best of both worlds Oo. anybody have either one or both of these any input on rather you think it would work or not would be appreciated :)

I've got the filter kit on my 2nd gen. I really liked how it went together but I have not put enough miles on it to have to change the filter or oil yet. I don't think it can hurt, more oil = cooler transmission.

does everything for the filter install on one side of the transmission i am guessing you just put the filter on either side on the pto housing ?

The filter is supposed to be on the drivers right hand side. The gears in the transmission fling the oil in that direction. The filter catches the oil as it falls and filters it. I only have 20,000 on my transmission since I put it and the filter in. I will change it this winter.

Fitment problems

I have the fast coolers on both trucks. The only problem is that you have to grind down a few of the fins so that it will clear one of the bellhousing bolts on each side. I'll see if I can remember to snap a pic. It knida makes you #@$%! when you have to go and butcher up your new parts.

I am running a Fast cooler on the drivers side and a filter on the pass side - works great. I did drill and tap a hole in the bottom of the Fast cooler for a temp. guage. The also allows me to drain the trans completly when I change the fluid.

thanks for the replies glad somebody else has thought of this same idea i thought it would be a good way to get the best of both worlds. dieselman if you can post pictures on here that would be great thanks .

how much would it save to split an order? i was going to by at some point just not right away ... ... but i could probably be convinced

i think that the fast coolers would end up be around 90 bucks each if we split an order but i think i have already convinced a friend to split the order with me . if he dosent want to ill pm you thanks

pictures

I but a new front crank seal and cover gasket on yesterday, after I finished I grabbed the camera and crawled under the truck. So be ready to shave it down around the bellhousing bolts.

Sorry 'bout the small pics, all of the resizing drives me nuts!#@$%!
