Fedex needs to be bought out by UPS... (getting flame suit on)

I orderd from a company in california on sunday evening, an hour or two later I get confermation and monday monrning I get a shippment e-mail saying its sent fedex, ok fine I say. . then monday evening I get a e-mail say the other part of my order was shipped via UPS... so this morning (wednesday) I track the both of them and the UPS one is in town out for delivery and the FEDEX one is still in california! so now I have part of my order in hand and I get home tonight and I track the FEDEX package and guess were it is... . ?? its in freaking tennesse!!!!

FEDEX blows!!

PS I live in moab Utah. ,... . not tennesse!

I feel a tiny bit better now haveing vented

:eek: :mad: :eek: :mad: :eek: :mad: :-{}

FedEX

Go to www.planetfeedback.com you can then write a letter which will sent to the CEO of FedEX. Make it polite but distressed at the poor service. I wrote one to FedEX about losing a prescription package to be delivered overnight - that took 8 days.

FedEx sent me a nice letter and $100 for my trouble - of course it helped that it was the 3rd time that happened. either way - let them know thru the Planetfeedback website . .

:D

Every now and again there is a little mix up in shipping(which I've had) but with Fed-Ex they have never lost any shippments of mine, nor have I ever had to make a damage claim with them, unlike UPS, also Fed-Ex is slightly cheaper, and friendlier, IMO.

Little story about UPS, short version.

I was shipping a product that was 2" to long for them to ship, yea, 2" more won't fit on the truck *rolleyes*, BUT will fit on an airplane (they would ship it air, at the cost of my left arm). So they said that I could ship it via "The UPS store", so I drive to a strip mall, walk into the UPS store and ask if they would ship this.

They say sure, bla bla bla, then I ask, "This is UPS correct?" Them, "Yes it is" me, "So this package will be picked up by the brown truck?" them "yes", me "and then taken to the depot over on Dixie Hwy?", them "yes", me "I was just there, they said they won't ship it" them, "yea, but they will from us" me, "I thought you were UPS?" them, "we are" me, (viens in my neck throbing) "but UPS said they won't ship it", them "they won't", me (getting ready to bust) "are you guys on crack?, if it's more money to ship this extra 2", why wouldn't they (the depot on Dixie Hwy) just charge me extra, instead of makin me drive 20 minutes to this store, paying you, then you having to call a brown truck to pick it up... payin fuel... insurance... . drivers wages..... wear on brown truck, all just to take this here package BACK to where I just was? Them, " Ummmm" me, (walking out door).

BTW, at UPS, any form of, "Please be careful with this package" sticker, simply means to destroy it ASAP. :)

Also, my brother in law, and a good friends dad are employed at UPS, both I have commented to, and niether one seemed to care too much, figures.

IIRC, Fedex's "hub" is in Memphis, TN. I too have had similar experiences. I had a Fedex package go from Florida to TN, then here to Houston, TX, and another go from DALLAS, TX to TN, then to HOUSTON. Apparently they can do the shipping thing cheaper that way, or so I've been told.

The UPS store is a franchise. The people that work there do not work for UPS. I was in there one day and asked the guy behind the counter.

Towpro, be that as it may, the package was still going to be picked up by a UPS truck, and shippied on UPS truck, even though it was 2" to long for UPS to accept at thier depot, which make zero sence to me.

Rob

Unless it is shipped Fed Ex Ground, your package will go to TN. I frequently overnight packages to Denver and surrounding areas from Cheyenne. Around 100 miles by road to most of my clients. All the packages go through TN first. I don't get how they can make it happen, but I haven't had a late or missing package yet.

Sorry to hear your having problems. It could be the form was improperly filled out or damaged. I'm not making excuses, and I agree it's frustrating. Hopefully it'll come soon.

I know just what you mean about Fedex. In Aug. I had sent out 75 steering brackets from Saskatchewan, Canada to various places in the U. S. These things are 2 1/2 ft long, 7" wide and weigh 15 lbs. each. I had to take these 70 miles to the nearest depot myself, after waiting 3 days for the driver to stop and pick them up! After dropping them off, Fedex then proceeded to ship 15 of them to someplace called OBLIVION! (I'm pretty sure that's in Australia, but can't find it on the map!)

After complaining, I was told to fill out 259 forms in triplicate, provide them with a birth certificate, 12 pieces of I. D. my mother's maiden name, and proof as to my whereabouts on July 22, 1982.

I give up:rolleyes:

i beg to differ on the UPS "destroying packages"... . i worked there for over 2 years on a night sort and we were pretty good on keeping packages in good shape... ALOT of the times it is the shipper and their crappy packaging that does not hold up to normal movement of transportation.

Ok, when I package a product in a wooden crate, with 2x material around the parameter, "Do not drop" Handle with care" the whole bit, then the customer recieves it and tells me, "You know where you had all those Handle with care stickers on it, well there was a hole through that side, and foot prints all over it, the 2x on the top was broke in half, ect, ect"

Dude, I'm not makin this crap up, it happens, and it happens regularly. Breaking a 2x in "normal" shipping movments? I think not, I drove a semi for 8 years, shipping all over the country, and all sorts of goods, I know what "normal" is.

Direct quote from the guy at UPS after I asked about putting on "do not drop" stickers... ... ... ... "We'll, you CAN put them on there" while he rolled his eyes and grinned. They are hacks, bottom line, none of the employee's will admit to destroying packages, sotra like the rotton drivers around the country, no one is at fault, **** just happends.

Anther one, I shipped a product to a guy on this site, he recieved it, told me that UPS had bent 1/4" steel bracket. , now come on, you really need to work bend 1/4" steel.

brings back my past... I worked for brown for 2 years... I loaded the brown trucks... And as sad as this sounds now... I DID on purpose try to see how hard you had to slam a package to break the glass. . ect ect... BUT in defense of UPS... Packages can and will jam in their belt systems... and it WILL do major damage!!!

Uh, yer honor, the prosecution rests. :)

I have never had a package damaged by eather carrier... AND people are people, so you cant tell me fedex has never damaged a package, maybe less than brown, I dont know... they both seem to get the job done... . my main thing is UPS seems faster getting stuff to moab ..... probably cause of were hubs or whatever are located..... UPS goes through salt lake and fedex goes through denver... and since I live between the two anything coming from cali is much quicker.

ANYWAY I did get my package.

I've worked as a Customer Service Engineer (take service calls on all things computer related) for almost 27 years. My company has used all of the couriers at various times over the years. I'd have to say they all do a pretty good job considering the number of packages I've received in all those years. The amazing thing is I can't remember any of them ever losing a package. It might get mis-routed or delayed but eventually they all find their way to the right place. Don't take it personally, call customer service and let them know what happened. Like a wise man once said, "$h1t happens".

A good Fed-Ex story:

I ordered 2 more Nextel phones on Tuesday afternoon and they quoted 3-4 days due to the new # portability deal.

Well Next day at 2. 28 they delivered my phones.

Less than 24hrs. from order to delivery.

I was a happy camper !! :D
